It has been beaten to death here and on USU site but in reality, on paper with the high star rated recruits, more experienced and accomplished coaches, massive stadium with deafening crowd noise, faster defensive players, experience in the system for our upper classmen, superior talent added on both sides of the ball, WR corps major size and speed advantage, their two best offensive weapons are returning from major injury and last and possibly my main point of argument for us, the #1 strength they point to are their front seven, specifically their NFL caliber LB(s), WE PLAY NFL CALIBER LINEBACKERS 7-9 games out of 12 A YEAR!
Yes we are replacing our O-line, can we really say our O-line was a strength of the team last year? 4 of the 5 are on pro rosters with a couple looking at starting or serious playing time, but they only had one year under brand new (again) coaching and offensive style. We will start a freshman most likely but if he didn't prove to be up to the challenge he obviously wouldn't be there. My point here is I don't think "replacing" our line is as big of a deal on O as the media and USU are making it out to be, these guys have played meaningful SEC snaps with the exception of Coleman. Worleys had an entire Spring, Season, Offseason, Spring and Fall Camp under Butch and Co. as have Marlin Lane, Pig, Josh Smith, North, Croom... I truly look for our offense to be a dependable efficient machine this year with incredible balance. I think we can run enough on USU to open up the D a bit and I do not think they will be able to cover North, Croom, Pearson, Malone, Smith and Pig.
USU will score some because our D isn't sured up enough with the speed and experience we need just yet, but they won't score enough. UT will generate a turnover (my prediction is either or both of a Sutton pick 6 on Chuckie, and/or a muffed punt due to excellent coverage or a field goal block)
We won't roll like we did on WKU (there was some help there) but we will be comfortable wire to wire, won't ever be behind and won't ever feel like they are about to take the lead.
Damn, I'm ready for some football!
