What other message boards are saying (Virginia Post Game Edition)

The defense played better than their stats? LOL

The only drives that stalled were dropped passes or miscues. They did stop a shot 4th down conversion but other than that I can’t say they did anything to really stop us.

Grew up in Va, UVA, is the a hole, elitist , leftist school still living on Jefferson’s legacy which is long dead.

If you want to enjoy a college visit Tech is the way to go.

Terrible event last year but F UVA.

I kinda liked the one whining about nothing being neutral at the game.

Virginia fans actually thought their team was the big selling point of this game and they were the "main character". How cute.

I did see something on the billboard saying something like "Louder" when Virginia was on 3rd down. I don't know if they did that against Tennessee as well.

My favorite part of the game was when that clown Palmer said that UVA had time and things could get interesting - that lasted all of about two minutes and then we shut them down and scored again and he went back to sleep.
It is comical, but what else is he supposed to do? It is a clear mismatch, and he was trying to give it some life.

I hate what happened, and I know at times people can compete with inspiration, and it be at a higher level. You nailed it though, and I had a Georgia fan friend arguing me earlier that they'd beat us because they were inspired. I tried explaining what you said, but like most Georgia fans, their logic section of the brain is filled with barking, and licking themselves.🤣
Lol. You have clearly spent some time living in Georgia and know them well!

Seeing a lot of comments on the game experience for announcer, scoreboard, etc. UT was the actual home team in the matchup. May explain why Jeff Jernigan may have been calling 3rd downs. As the home team, UT made the decision, with UVA approval, to honor the young men that died, by placing flowers on the yard line of their numbers…

They did not. It was about as close as you could get to a home game except for the small stadium. Because it was so one-sided at a neutral site, I wonder if it was UT’s PR department doing its job and pushing the envelope to get what they wanted. Wasn’t it up to UVA to provide their starting line-up or hype visuals? I know UT announces the opponents starting line-up at Neyland. This was a neutral site so wasn't that their responsibility to get their message heard? They didn’t even bring their band. I admit I don’t know what the rules for this neutral site game were as far as what was shown on big screens.

I figured it happened like last week since that was the overall UVA theme. The coach saying the real victory was the team getting on the field, everyone still in mourning, etc.

But the I google the shooting and find out it was almost a year ago..
This was their first game since the shooting. They cancelled their last two games last year after the shooting. I’m not thin skinned but your post was not necessary.

Virginia can’t be that bad and expect to win. It just does not happen. They have to be able to capitalize on mistakes and get points. This was a complete failure from top to bottom. It’s one thing to be outgunned but to look like you didn’t game plan at all is another. This is squarely on Elliot and his staff.

Good luck the rest of the way you’ll need it.

It’s terrible that it happened and I’m sure it’s tough to get through but a coach has to get his guys to focus and just play ball. You play for them you carry their memory with you and give it all you got. Players can only execute the plan they’re given and from what I saw there wasn’t much of one.

Nope. You never saw that. In fact it said "quiet please. Offense at work" when we had the ball.

I can understand your perspective to a point. I know when Marshall football came back after the infamous plane crash, just about every game involved some kind of memorial, even when they traveled to away games years afterward, until the coach put his foot down with “The funerals end today” (yes he did say that, or something like it, just not at the time or for the sake reason as in the film). His point was that the university and program could not move on and grow if every away game turned into a tribute.

That being said, I’m not sure that applies here. This was the very first game since the tragedy as the rest of last season was canceled afterwards. It makes sense to have some kind of tasteful tribute in the first game. If they are still holding memorials at the end of the season ad nauseum, then you might have a point.

For now, better to just let it be

I don’t knock them for remembering them or at least that wasn’t the intention.

I was there and this one is just real and I laughed about it at several points.

Our announcer was the announcer
We did our pregame and called them our visitors
We ran through the T
Everything was orange except their endzone.

It was great.
Looked on tv like 90% of the stadium was orange also?
