What sports are stupid, and need to just go away?

That makes absolutely no sense to what is being discussed. You said he wasn't athletic, the guy said he was, which shaq was. If any of the greats were 5'8 they wouldn't have done the same things as they did at their normal height. You reach WAY to much man.

Then he could probably be the best golfer ever.

Wow this thread took a turn towards the dumb side. No surprise given the presence of a certain poster. He tends to make very silly arguments.

Hope that was directed at me. Golf isn't a sport. No athletes whatsoever. That was the initial argument. Any other player from a "real" sport can be good at golf. No doubt X game rice burner drifting is the most athletically demanding "sport" ever.

Nerd exposed you and you have been dismissed. Enjoy your Twinkies

You exposed yourself for the idiot you are a long ways back. He was right about me arguing though but he left out the vast majority of the time me being right. Not that a guy's opinion that lives vicariously through the fast & the furious really matters.

Silence you sad little man!

When I look for golf scores in the newspaper it's not in the entertainment section. Just because anybody can play & don't have to be very good to enjoy it doesn't take away from the extraordinary amount of skill it takes to play at a high level. It also takes a fair amount of physical ability & stamina. Hell I ride & I'm still tired after 18 holes. You & a bunch of fat buddies can go in the backyard & play football & it's still a sport.

Yes it is very tiring to ride the cart to golf ball, get out of the cart, pick a club, wack the ball with the club, get back in the cart, chase the ball down, wack the ball , get back inhe the cart, drink some beer, repeat the process until you can knock the ball into a hole in the ground. After doing so you get too repeat the process all over until you finally knock the ball into either 9 or 18 holes in the ground. Good thing you have that cart to ride in.

Thank you for illustrating my point.

I do not disagree with either side of this argument. But good lord, there are some silly points being pushed.

That's cause you're old as dirt Gramps.

Technique will help you drive a ball, physical strength isn't a great need. Mental I'll give you. Endurance to walk 5 miles is pretty dang comical though.

Come on bj, you and I both know that hitting a ball far is more than just technique. A lot of it is strength especially for a ball buried 6" in the grass. Just like when a baseball player takes a ball off his shoe laces and hits a home run. Thats not technique.

Golfer walks 5 miles in summer heat/humidity and never sits down for 4+ hours. Baseball player jogs out to right field, stands for 20 minutes, jogs back to dugout and eats some peanuts. Repeat 9x with a handful of 5 second sprints mixed in. Bartolo Colon or NFL lineman would need a medic by day 2 if they had to play a PGA tourney.

I didn't say just technique, I said strength isn't a great need. I'm doubting Phil is benching 250.

To me walking 5 miles is a joke, but I do play basketball for multiple hrs often. As far as baseball players I agree, but I haven't mentioned baseball players either. Not a baseball fan, it bores me to tears. I'm fairly confident lineman could walk 5 miles, well some of them could.

The funny thing about this whole argument, is I was half making a joke. But man it spiraled quickly. Lol

Tennis. Takes some skill, takes some athleticism, but beyond BORING. I'd seriously rather watch paint dry.

Also, about half of the Olympic sports ( synchronized swimming for example).

Can we please get rid of baseball and golf? Seriously two of the worst sports ever. I'm not sure how anyone can consider tennis boring compared to these 2 nap inducers.
