But Hat and SGM told me that Dooley sucks....

Don't they know more than people who are paid to evaluate players and coaches?

At least Hat takes a stance on what he believes. SGM, on the other hand, checks to see where Hat stands on an issue before taking a stance.

You are still right. The other guy was talking about since 2002 I am pretty sure.

Sorry I missed that. But Rivals was actually around well before 2002, just under a different name, but the same guys Jeremy Crabtree, Bobby Burton, etc ran it. It was called the National Recruiting Advisor. They had the exact same rankings format Rivals still uses today.

Yea I read a story last year about how Rivals and Scout were formed, bought, etc. Kinda interesting stuff.

Where do you find their rankings before 2002 at?

I still have all of them LOL I began subscribing to the NRA back in 1993. They sent out about 12 newsletters throughout the year and their final magazine was about 50 pages and excellent detail. It had their final rankings, overall class and conference rankings, Top 25 juniors to watch, etc... They were really ahead of the times back in the 90's.

Tennessee signed a TON of 5-star 6.1's back then. It was sick really.

I was mistaken the 1996 recruiting class that included Tee Martin was rated #4, not #6. And the 1997 class was #3, not #4. I'll go edit it.

Do you think in the end we will be ranked better than Clemson? Reason being I work with a Clemson fan guys wants to make a bet they finish higher than UT. I saw they are currently ranked 11th. What do you think?

I have felt since about march we finish 9th this year.

In your opinion, LV, what kinda shot we have at this?

I know it's early and it's all a guess but you know more going on than I do. Would like your opinion.

No, not this year. This will be their best class ever.

I doubt it happens but we have a shot. I think we finish no higher than 8th and no lower than 14th.

As a program we may not make it back to that level of recruiting for a long time (if ever) but your top tier programs don't seem to have that difficult of a time landing three big name RB's in one class especially if the position had been purged by a lot of graduation/leaving early.

I mean the future can't be told the same way we can look back on Lewis/Henry/Stephens, but even Texas A&M signed three 4-star (Rivals) running backs last year.

That is the reason Phil Fulmer was finally put to pasture. Can you imagine Osborne,Paterno,Saban or Switzer with that talent level for that many years in a row. Thank you Phil for the 98 NC, however a few more were warranted...IMHO.... GBO

Tennessee had at least 9 classes in a row in the 90's and early 2000's that were Top 10.

1993 - #3 - Leonard Little, Jay Graham, Ivan Zenon, Marquise Mebane
1994 - #1 - Peyton Manning, Marcus Nash, Maurice Staley, Jonathon Brown, Terry Fair, Anthony Hampton, Jeff Coleman
1995 - #7 - Brian Darden, Al Wilson, Chad Clifton, Spencer Riley, Peerless Price
1996 - #4 - Tee Martin, Dwayne Goodrich, Gerald Griffin, Shaun Ellis, Raynoch Thompson
1997 - #3 - Jamal Lewis, Fred Weary, Travis Henry, Cosey Coleman, Deon Grant, Eric Parker, Reggie Coleman
1998 - #7 - John Henderson, Bernard Jackson, Will Overstreet, Donte Stallworth, Willie Miles
1999 - #9 - Albert Haynesworth, Terrea Smalls, Onterrio Smith, Greg Barnum, Constantin Ritzmann
2000 - #2 - Michael Munoz, Sean Young, Jason Respert, Rashad Baker, Karlton Neal, Kevin Burnett, Jabari Greer, Tony Brown.
2001 - #4 - Kevin Simon, Cedric Houston, Jabari Davis, Derrick Tinsley, CJ Fayton

My Goodness, that is sick. Look at 1997 class! That is amazing. You also forgot to add Travis Stephens to that '97 class also.

If they land a Top 10 class it will be the biggest miracle I've personally ever seen in Tennessee football history and Dooley should get a 6 year contract extension immediately.
Ron Zook would still be locked in at UF if they gave extensions based on recruiting alone.

They all had that kind of talent.
