Pearl has charisma but his teaching and coaching are average at best. No late game strategy, players have not shown any noticeable development, and they absolutely suck shooting free throws. My Junior high team can outshoot them from the line. Do you think they ever practice FT's? I seriously doubt it. We have lost every close game at the line.

I say fire him and Hamilton and let the next AD find his replacement.

I can't believe we couldn't close it out with 13 seconds left. And we let them get a dunk for the win.

The only thing I can think of is Bruce didn't want the defense to be set because that's how he likes it in the final seconds. Still a terrible decision.

First of all, I'm a Vols fan no matter what. My blood bleeds orange. But I absolutely can not stand watching this team play. I think I will just do something else next time they are playing and check the score later. That should keep my blood pressure down. I thought the team put out very little effort, the coaching was terrible, and the fans at the game were pathetic. Reminded me of the Wade Houston era. All around sorry effort from coaches, team, fans.

It was fun while it lasted. These bad losses are a better excuse to fire Pearl. MH is not far behind Bruce. Sad sad.

Pitiful. I lost all hope I had with this team. What is it now? 6. 1 pt losses? I know BW was fouled out but WHY is S Pearl on the floor the last 4 mins of the game? We have nobody better with "our 4* scout team" that's better than S Pearl? Stupid a%# timeout by Bruce at end. WTF!!!!!Wash our hands clean with Bruce, as much as it kills me to say it bc he's been great on & off floor, just have move on & hope for best. Hammy's gone for sure now.

The out of bounds play he set up for Tobias was great coaching. The follow through to close it out was not. Good with the bad. It has been that way all year.

Call a TO to set up your D after the Harris slam. Or save it in case they score to set up a play. But in no way should you waste it on the free throw attempt. It served no purpose. I hope he wasn't trying to ICE him. LOL.

And to The Great Pumpkin - UT's ticket to the dance is already punched.

You got just over 3 seconds left. With this much time left I got no problem with him taking one here. If we do get it closer you are only gonna have about 1 second left in a best case scenario anyway. He was able to set up the play for an inbound scenario as well as the rebound scenario. No qualms with the time out from me. Im more upset about lack of passion and free throw shooting.

With all due respect...if you don't have a problem with his last timeout BEFORE the free throw then you don't know basketball. It was inexcusable and bush league.
They SHOULD already know what to do in this situation at the end of a game, they SHOULD have been prepared for this situation before the 1st game of the season. If the guy makes the free throw you in-bound the ball and call a TO after crossing halfcourt. If he misses, you call the TO as soon as you collect the rebound. No debate, no discussion, no excuses.

That makes sense...except why don't you wait till after the FT to see what happens?

i said the same thing, our late game management is terrible, with the exception of the in bounds play they've all been god awful

First of all, whoever grabs the rebound could bring it to halfcourt with over a second and call a timeout. That gives enough time to pass the the three point line and pit up a better shot (knowing pearl it would jaw probably been goins).

Second, what play would pearl be setting up? Shooting a halfcourt shot from a different angle? Not shooting at all? If you think that the timeout was fine and let pearl set up the final play then you obviously know nothing about the game.
