What to make of the Georgia performance???

Georgia still has to play bama, Texas, ole Miss and Vols. They will be extremely lucky to make the playoffs. The undisciplined reckless driving time bomb finally runs into the ditch in 2024.

I expected KY to play better after the debacle against South Carolina but the Georgia performance has been surprising to say the least. I expect the Vols will get a better effort from the Dawgs. Not sure the Dawgs can go to Texas and win though.
Dawgs were sleep walking. Nothing more, nothing less.

Georgia always has a scare or two just like this, then they go on and win the NC
Not last year they didn't. And this year remains to be determined. And those past Georgia teams had known commodities at key positions. And they would sleep walk through a game or two.

This Georgia team on Saturday never really woke up. They were just playing a much inferior opponent, with a hesitant coach. That easily could have been an L for them. 13 points. The ****?

A little of Georgia playing down to their opponents and Kentucky having a good defensive game plan. Kentucky plays them tough despite the long losing streak.

Georgia has no offense.

A very vanilla called game by OC Bobo and very poor performance from the o-line. Let's not go overboard. Like others have said, Georgia has a similar WTF game every year.

No team is unbeatable, although the Dawgs have won 42 straight regular season games.

Do you really think the Vols are going to waltz into Athens and put up a bunch of points?

Not saying Big Orange hasn't look good so far obliterating elementary schools; however, you might temper expectations, friend.

2017 Dawgs 41 - Vols 0
2018 Dawgs 38 - Vols 12
2019 Dawgs 43 - Vols 14
2020 Dawgs 44 - Vols 21
2021 Dawgs 41 - Vols 17
2022 Dawgs 27 - Vols 13
2023 Dawgs 38 - Vols 10

...just saying.

“Every year is a new team” is a phrase I’ve heard from a lot of good coaches including CJH. It’s similar to flipping a coin in that past results have no bearing on the next flip. Georgia lost a lot of NFL talent and we hung onto a lot of NFL boarder line guys on both lines of scrimmage. I like our chances more this year than I have in a long time.

UGA played poorly, especially on OL. The DL was missing its top 2 guys and it showed. Getting drive killing negative plays while also allowing sustained drives is how the time of possession got so lopsided.

OL worries me, as does DL depth.

But I’m not worried about the skill guys or Bobo. Not even a little. We’re getting separation and open.

UK’s defense is big in the middle and complex on the back end. Beck normally completed 75% of his passes against zone coverage, but he was well short of that this week. Maybe he’s gotten worse, but I kinda doubt it.

Bama is good. It will be a stout test.

Beck had a bad night. It happens. Their defense still hasn’t given up a touchdown.

3 consecutive years of the number one recruiting class precludes you from crying about "depth". Right now, the top end talent on the defensive line isn't showing up. Kinda scary because if the Georgia defensive front (or anybody else's for that matter) can't dominate Tennessee's offensive line then it's cookies. Our routes have been breaking open year after year against UGA. We need the right quarterback, with the time and protection to be able to hit some of them.

Too early on in the season for that excuse. Nobody has proven anything yet. Tennessee beating NC State carries the same weight Georgia beating Clemson does. None. Georgia looked bad in their first conference game. Now we get to see how UT looks. Then we can compare that.

Nobody’s crying. Kentucky’s running scheme took the air out of the ball and played to keep it close. UGA’s defense held UK out of the end zone and UK kicked FGs of 55 and 51 yards. That’s winning defense. I wish we had held UK to shorter drives, but that’s largely on the offense for not putting points on the board and making UK pass.

If “not showing up” means no TDs allowed this season without 3 of our top 4 DL, then I’d hate to see what showing up looks like.

What does previous seasons or previous regular season wins have anything to do with this year? Georgia has no offense this year. Clinging on to previous seasons doesn't change this.

Etienne is overrated. He may have one long run in him per game to inflate his stats, but he isn't consistent enough. Too many runs of 2 yards or less.

The WRs for Georgia are a bunch of duds. No one stands out. Not much returning production. Not enough speed or athleticism. Just a bunch of meh..Kirby hasn't developed or recruited this position well enough.

Beck isn't a great processor. He doesn't have a safety blanket like he did with Brock Bowers. He doesn't scare me.

Agsin, Georgia has no offense. I didn't say anything about their defense. But its not going to be enough to mask this offense against top conference competition.

I wouldn't say it's an excuse no matter when in the season they play each other. It can happen anytime in the season.

And still made a case as to why Vandagriff transferred. He did not look like a QB that could have took over full time had Beck opted for the NFL.

Some good stuff in there. Kind of mind boggling Kirby doesn't have top RB's and WR's in the wings. Totally off-base with the product he trotted out in recent years since he got his system going. He might have some decent QB's coming along, but not sure how they will translate to starting SEC QB's.

"Not showing up" as it relates to a Jalen Carter type. Kentucky was a bad offense. And they were still a field goal away from tapping that ass. If we don't have our starting four defensive linemen we'd still beat Kentucky.

If'n it happens too early then it can't concretely be written off as "a great team sleep walking". It could also be called a good team almost losing on the road. That's the point. We aren't sure yet. Last year is gone. This is a new team. We gone see about 2024.

LOL!

Vols look GREAT this year, for sure. Heupel is brilliant and really effective as long as he has an elite-type QB running his offense. Yes, Nico has really looked the part thus far.

Past years are certainly relevant. Same system and a lot of the same personnel.

Kirby seems to be Heupel's kryptonite. A Heupel-led team hasn't been close to giving Georgia a competitive game. (Not saying they can't)

Also, you seem to draw a lot of conclusions from a single game. (SEE: Psychological coping mechanism)
