What was our best RB combo/depth chart in history?

I was about to say people keep leaving Shawn Bryson out the equation. He was a awesome FB during our run. He had special moments. Without him I think we fall short of the NC...

I went to HS with Keith Davis. He was a damn good RB in the glory days of John Overton football.

Unfortunately, Keith never really had a chance to show Tennessee fans just how good he was, due to a seemingly endless succession of nagging injuries.

QUOTE=Jasongivm6;8944615]Cobb/Webb?
Garner/Hayden/Stewart?
Lewis/Henry/Stephens?

Any other combos worth mentioning?[/QUOTE]

The first two you mentioned, in that order.

Just think if Onterrio Smith would have lasted. That would have been a tough quartet to top. I remember Keith Davis in HS rumbling through everyone, then he was, in my opinion, our best RB on the hill when he was a freshman. Best back hardly ever mentioned: Johnny Jones.

1) Cobb/Webb/Thompson

2)Lewis/Henry/Bryson/Stephens was stupid sick

I was wondering how long it would take for Bryson to get mentioned. Always forgotten. But the guy was bad. Nice quiet guy too, so probably why he is always forgotten in these type of convos.

I don't think I can remember any other FB that had a burst of speed and elusiveness as good as Bryson. He was also a very good blocker.

Chuck webb was the best TB Vols ever had. And yeah that included Jamal Lewis. Add Reggie Cobb who I think scored 20 TDs in one season and its gotta be Cobb / Webb

You guys know we played football before 1989 right? Mcevers, Laricella, Majors Cafego and a bunch of others did pretty well. we have a rich history.

Had LaMarcus Coker stayed on the team, he would have been awesome. Had Ontario Smith stayed on the team, he would have been awesome.

For Neyland-coached teams, we also would have to throw in Hank Lauricella and Andy Kozar on the 1951 national championship squad. That team remains the best single-season rushing team in Tennessee football history, with 3068 yards, 306.8 yards per game and 40 touchdowns on the ground. Hank Lauricella led the team with 111 carries for 881 yards, 8 touchdowns and a stellar 7.9 yards per carry average. Kozar added 635 yards and 11 touchdowns, so the question that begs to be answered is who accounted for the other 1500 yards rushing and 21 touchdowns?

He had a decent NFL career s well. You know you have a stable at tailback when a future NFL starter has to play full-back to get on the field.
