What we need to get to Atlanta

Their defense is the one defense in the SEC/Nation that might be better than ours.
National standings:

Scoring Defense: TN #5, GA #13
Rushing Defense: TN #6, GA #21
Passing Defense: TN #21, GA #27
Total Defense: TN #4, GA #12

SEC standings:

Scoring Defense: TN #2, GA #4
Rushing Defense: TN #2, GA #6
Passing Defense: TN #3, GA #4
Total Defense: TN #2, GA #3

I think we are all surprised, especially the history and pedigree of the leghumpers. But the facts behind your statement (to be clear you did not say they are better but that they might be better) are: GA defense is patently not better than TN in any major category.

We need to win out and have some help to get the ATL getting the playoffs is pretty much a done deal as long as we end up ranked in the top10
OK win out and another LSU L, Bama handles that. Then we play the W from TAMU vs Texas in Atlanta.

Realistically, and I stress that word so people don't take it as negativity, we can't overlook anybody left on the schedule.

- Yes, we'll beat UTEP by 50.

- As for Mississippi State, Tennessee has to show up. If they come out there and fumble, commit 15 penalties for a million yards, miss chip shot field goals, drop multiple TD passes and so on, we're going to be in another late game fight when we have no business being in that situation.
"Well Mississippi State isn't very good."
Yeah, and Kentucky isn't very good either. They're atrocious actually. They had 10 starters out by the second quarter. They were down to walk-ons at a few positions. Still, we let them hang around and took advantage of exactly nothing down the field.

- Do any combination of that stuff at Georgia and we'll get rolled. The defense had a really hard time on Saturday pre-snap. Scrambling around doing sign language back flips trying to figure out where and how to get lined up. Yes, they got it together, but they need to do it for 4 quarters in Athens.

- Finally, that brings us to the Commodes in Nashville to end the year. Leave it to Vandy to have a better year than they're used to having and actually have a playmaker QB who can potentially spoil our postseason aspirations. I don't even want to think about that. Harass that man. Run it down their throats. Bomb it long down the sidelines and make them pay for stacking the box.

The issues that have persisted this year need to be the focal point of every practice. The Georgia game doesn't need to be looked at as a feel-good-close-loss kind of game. Tennessee can beat Georgia. They can beat them convincingly if they're firing on all cylinders.
Vols need to lock it in big time right now.

I get that statistically they are lower rated.. but the product of the field is impressive. Dline wise we are probably deeper but they have more talent across the whole defense, especially at linebacker and secondary. If you look at the actual raw numbers the teams are very similar especially when you look at the difference in schedules they have played a much tougher schedule than us thus far (Clemson, Texas>NC State, Oklahoma). But we shall see in a couple weeks. I honestly think we have a good shot of taking them out if our offense keeps its progression and their QB keeps selling. He has thrown 11 picks over the last 5 games.

1 we need Vandy to get another win or two and become complacent with their nice (for them) bowl game. That team is getting more and more scary by the week. I think this is the most important game of the year assuming we spank UTEP and Miss State as scheduled. The assumption is we can beat or lose close to UGA then this becomes the trap game. If we beat UGA we have to beat Vandy for playoff hopes atlanta would probably be dead at that point.

2 For UGA we need Beck to keep doing whatever it is hes been doing lately throwing 3 picks a game. No idea whats going on with Georgias offense but I like it. Their defense is the one defense in the SEC/Nation that might be better than ours. But i think the fact our offense gets to play against our defense kinda helps. Also it hells the struggles our offense has had and overcome.

Nico is playing exactly like he should have like a freshman taking his lumps but improving steadily as the season wears on. Kentucky was Nicos get right game. Miss State should be his coming out party. Hopefully we can rest the nicked up WRs. Sadly it does not look like the coaches think Mike Matthews is ready yet because with Squirrel nicked up he saw very few targets or snaps. Maybe hes ready to go next year.

D Samp and the D fense have carried this team so far. But we have seen signs of the other guys on offense raising their hands asking to join the party. I keep ranting about it but TD19 was epic and i think a lot more important than some will think. That TD was a statement by the offense. We are hungry we are unstoppable we want to destroy you. And our defense. If im a QB im making some serious business decisions facing UT. We have sent how many to the sidelines so far?

1. We need a win in Athens to get to Atlanta.
2. Sampson and the defense continue to carry this team while Iamaleava plays complementary football including minimizing turnovers.
3. Special Teams make a few splash plays.
