What Will It Take To Restore This Program?

There are some who for some reason believe Holly should be retained for another season. One wonders how any sane person could come to this conclusion after what has transpired this season. This program is simply awful with no visions of getting better in the near future. How can we start on the road to restoration?

1. Fire the entire staff after our short run in the NCAA Tournament.
2. Start looking at possible replacements right now.
3. There are million dollar coaches we could go after, however, look at other top young successful head coaches with successful programs at existing D1 and second tier programs. I would also not rule out first assistant coaches at one of the top five D1 schools.
3. Make every effort to have a coach in place ASAP, no later than June, so he/she can start recruiting and working with the players that remain. This might mean filing available 2016 scholarships with lesser stars/JC players, recruited by the incoming coach. They would have more time to consentrated on the 2017 recruiting class. If he/she has a history of success this would be a plus.

The knowledge that a new coach with a history of success is taking over this program could also limit possible transfers. A good coach with 4 5 stars, could certainly make the Lady Vols more of a viable program.

This mess can be corrected but to do so, we cannot keep Holly, in hope that she can all of a sudden become a good coach and recruiter. The experiment is over.

I agree. The sooner the better in finding a new coach to reboot The Tennessee Lady Volunteers. I do not want to end up a team of the past. I sincerely hope Holly resigns today. Just don't make the program wait until the end of the season.
Good post and thank you!

A miracle or pressing the ignore button.

Well, think about this. You are informed and knowledgeable fan so I think the question is more about the futility of posting over and over again about the need to fire Holly.

You know the situation and why she is very unlikely to be fired after one disappointing season.

Three years of reasonable success on par with what CPS had accomplished in her final years.

Yes, she drew blanks on this year's recruiting class but on paper she has had good success in her prior seasons.

The aura of gender discrimination lawsuits that are floating around the UTAD. [THE BIG ROADBLOCK TO MAKING A COACHING CHANGE]

Here status as CPS's hand picked successor.

Like it or not, she will have a grace year. If next season is a replay in terms of performance and recruiting, there is no chance she stays. The writing will be the wall quickly.

The tricky question is what happens if the LVs have an improved record and finish back in the top 20 but still remain well below elite status.

Absolutely ridiculous. TN can show cause as to why she will/would be let go. Holly Warlick or any assistant would not have a case against UT for the already filed lawsuit. Dave Hart gets paid big bucks to make tough decisions. It's time to make one.

I totally disagree. Kyra Elzy is one of the best defensive coaches in the NCAA. So your statement is totally stupid. Kentucky has since 2008 to 2012 had a highly respected defense and recruiting program, all the responsibility of Elzy. Why be so dumb as to suggest firing her?

We'll have to get down to nothing and start over. Holly will be here next season hopefully without two of the Assistant's as we need someone new to coach the guards and the post players. We need someone that can close on recruits and since most keep affirming that Holly has one more year to turn it around then we certainly hope she has sense enough to get a brilliant mind or two on her staff that can make that happen.
I guess I should just hope for the status quo as this but who want to suffer through another year like this one.
One thing is for sure we need post player and Cheridine Greene is the player that could step in for Graves and do the job. We really don't need to go to two star post with no college experience they are just bench warmers who wouldn't play.
I don't think Dean has done a good job with Russell and Graves. Graves was better as a freshman than she is now. Russell has no fight and plays a very passive game.
The guards are even worse no basketball IQ and can't seem to grasp the instructions, if there are any of how to attack a zone.
So we have to face the reality that Holly will be back and hope that she can find a way to get additional players and at least give us a decent team next season.

I would not call this a disappointing season.
The season has been disastrous.
Another season with Holly as coach will be the death knell of the program.
There must be a sense of urgency about replacing Holly.

You can't be serious? No head coach experience, no assistant coach experiences, and no recruiting experience! She isn't even as qualified as who we have. IMO

I agree. This is the nonsense that we see on boards. Good for a laugh though.

A good start would be realizing that everything that was great about Lady Vols Basketball for the last 30 years is solely because of Pat Summit and there will not be another Pat Summit at Tennessee or anywhere else for that matter.

Winning this year's SEC tournament and a trip past the elite 8 in the NCAA would do nicely. Simple

Folks need to accept that Holly will be back next season. Do you really think Hart will fire her with all the garbage swirling around UT right now? Yet another excuse to file yet another lawsuit. Nope. Can't see it. Holly is the coach for the foreseeable future. Own it.

Ummm she is currently an assistant coach under coach Pop....one if the best guys in the NBA....she was the head coach of the Spurs Summer league team and lead them to a title...recruiting experience is overrated it's about how you connect, who you know, and how can you make a player better

She can be fired for job performance...that has nothing to do with what is going on

As I posted elsewhere:

No offense, but in what alternate reality do you see Hart firing Holly in light of all the garbage swirling around UT and women right now? You really believe he's going to pay for Holly's termination, pay top dollar for a new coach AND likely invite another lawsuit on top of what's on his plate right now? And for a program that usually doesn't contribute a lot financially to the budget? You really think a top coach would want to jump into this mess right now? Do you think the LV recruiting won't continue to suffer as a result of these allegations against UT? Get real. Holly is going nowhere in the near future. Certain factions have repeatedly targeted the men's programs especially football. They've wanted to cut the head off the golden goose and fry it up. Well....there's a cost to that. Lady Vol fans better buckle up and learn to live with the consequences.

If the players are guilty of the charges, punish them to the full extent of the law. That's why we have a criminal justice system. What these groups and individuals are trying to do to UT right now is ridiculous and there will be fallout.

If Holly stays, the team will continue to regress. Start recruiting post players that aren't bean poles. We need some women with some hips n arse that can push girls around and get the boards. Bench the girls that don't wanna play as a team.

How is the Recruiting going now for the LV's?
