Whats the word from UVA?

After reading some of those posts, I hope Milton throws for 700 yards with 6 touchdowns and 0 ints. I would like to see him roll out and firmly plant a DB on the way to his 2nd rushing TD as well. We could very well set the tone for the rest of the year if we can both win and cover, all the time getting back to Knoxville with NO injuries.

I’m really hoping we grind it out in the trenches against UVA and then wait patiently for the big play to open up. It’s just all around demoralizing for the opponent.

That was hilarious! Virginia fans defending TN’s program against VA’s program. They’re hoping for a prayer to keep it close.

I read an article that basically said UVA was not prepping for Tennessee's offense in their camp. They ain't gonna know what hit 'em!

They seem mostly reasonable, to me.

The most optimistic of them are the ones who predict they'll lose by only 7, and the ones who say, 'you never know, anything can happen.'

Here are the posts I found most interesting:

Hoosindahouse1
Going through their past recruiting classes over the last 3 years…. They aren’t more talented than UNC or Miami from a roster perspective.
Can someone remind me again why we’re giving UT a lot more credit than either of those teams?

ATLHoo14
Any team that wins 11 games in the SEC and curb stomps our best ACC team deserves respect and credit lol…

Gdubhoo
Because Huepel is an offensive mastermind and that offense is extremely hard to stop. Nobody creates more big plays than his teams. Even if we hold them to 35, which should be considered a win for our defense, I doubt we can score 35.

SEC maybe? The BIGGER they are, the harder they fall!
They have two new WR’s and a different QB this year. Business trip #1.

ATLHoo14
Ah yes, the new QB who is in his 4th season, started both of the last two games, and racked up a 10-0 TD-INT ratio.

Hoo8079
They run the best offense in cfb. On paper Alabama should’ve smoked them last year but huepel’s offense is the ultimate equalizer.

For context, I chatted with two UT graduates at my family reunion this summer. We were talking college football and they know I went to UVA. They didn't even bring up our game, they were talking about the SEC the whole time. Kinda bummed me out. They travel for a lot of UT games, so I brought it up by asking 'are you guys going to the kickoff game in Nashville?' and they said 'oh, nah.'

The last one is kinda sad. They didn’t even give him the dignity of trash talk 😂

It ain't over till it's over. We all know that fact. Upsets happen, especially early in the year.

Yes, UT should win this one by a wide margin. But see above for the disclaimer.

UVA? Nothing against them. Same for their fans. Not like they have any reason or results to chest-thump against UT. Plus, they're an ACC team. Sorry, but it is what it is. I worry about UVA the same way I worry about Vandy. Not much, and not often.

Arrogant UVA fans? Throw a dart at a wall with all 133 FBS teams on it. You'll hit a team with arrogant fans. Even if you hit UT, so...

I like 45-17. That's just me, and FWIW, right on the point spread. I'm wrong a lot, and it's the first game of the season, so...

I'll take 45-44, or 38-35, or 31-28, or 28-24, or anything where A>B. I just want the win. We can go for style points down the road.

Just win, baby. One. Game. At. A. Time. Each one is as important as the game before it, and then it's next game up. One week at a time.

Most important game of the season is the next one. You don't have to be the best team in the nation every week, you just have to be the best team on the field. Do that, and your trajectory takes care of itself. Right now, most important game of 2023 is UVA. So go win it.

Go Vols.

The fact that I haven’t see 1 single UVA poster visiting here kind of says a lot. Usually by this point, no matter who the opponent is, someone has stopped in to say “good luck” or “you guys suck” blah blah. I guess the apathy is strong among the Hoos. Glad they got Elliott and we have Heupel.
