Whats the word from UVA?

That is a true statement. Vandy would probably beat them by two TDs.

That's not hate. They're just in a really bad place as a program right now. Some seems to be hoping that a transfer QB from an FCS program can save them.
Speaking of vandie: listening to Doug Mathews Show,& guest Candace Lee ,Athletic Director. Candice (Candy), Vandie (Candie). :p:p

UVA is one of the worst teams in arguably the worst power 5 conference.

If the Vols don't hang half a hundred on them, something is wrong.
I think we go easy on them in final score. They have been through a lot. As others have said, stay healthy, get reps for younger players, work on the four plus minute clock chewing drives. Get the OL timing in sync. Florida game comes up way too quickly. Get the W and get back to Knoxville

They seem mostly reasonable, to me.

The most optimistic of them are the ones who predict they'll lose by only 7, and the ones who say, 'you never know, anything can happen.'

Here are the posts I found most interesting:

Going through their past recruiting classes over the last 3 years…. They aren’t more talented than UNC or Miami from a roster perspective.
Can someone remind me again why we’re giving UT a lot more credit than either of those teams?

ATLHoo14
Any team that wins 11 games in the SEC and curb stomps our best ACC team deserves respect and credit lol…

Gdubhoo
Because Huepel is an offensive mastermind and that offense is extremely hard to stop. Nobody creates more big plays than his teams. Even if we hold them to 35, which should be considered a win for our defense, I doubt we can score 35.

CavsFootballSurge
SEC maybe? The BIGGER they are, the harder they fall!
They have two new WR’s and a different QB this year. Business trip #1.

ATLHoo14
Ah yes, the new QB who is in his 4th season, started both of the last two games, and racked up a 10-0 TD-INT ratio.

Hoo8079
They run the best offense in cfb. On paper Alabama should’ve smoked them last year but huepel’s offense is the ultimate equalizer.

For context, I chatted with two UT graduates at my family reunion this summer. We were talking college football and they know I went to UVA. They didn't even bring up our game, they were talking about the SEC the whole time. Kinda bummed me out. They travel for a lot of UT games, so I brought it up by asking 'are you guys going to the kickoff game in Nashville?' and they said 'oh, nah.'

Lulz.

It ain't over till it's over. We all know that fact. Upsets happen, especially early in the year.

Yes, UT should win this one by a wide margin. But see above for the disclaimer.

UVA? Nothing against them. Same for their fans. Not like they have any reason or results to chest-thump against UT. Plus, they're an ACC team. Sorry, but it is what it is. I worry about UVA the same way I worry about Vandy. Not much, and not often.

Arrogant UVA fans? Throw a dart at a wall with all 133 FBS teams on it. You'll hit a team with arrogant fans. Even if you hit UT, so...

I like 45-17. That's just me, and FWIW, right on the point spread. I'm wrong a lot, and it's the first game of the season, so...

I'll take 45-44, or 38-35, or 31-28, or 28-24, or anything where A>B. I just want the win. We can go for style points down the road.

Just win, baby. One. Game. At. A. Time. Each one is as important as the game before it, and then it's next game up. One week at a time.

Most important game of the season is the next one. You don't have to be the best team in the nation every week, you just have to be the best team on the field. Do that, and your trajectory takes care of itself. Right now, most important game of 2023 is UVA. So go win it.

Go Vols.

If the upset were to happen IMO it would have to be something like JG throwing all those pick 6s and even more turnovers vs UK for UVA to spring an unlikely upset. If that were to happen we would see Nico 2nd half.

I may be wrong but I think this is his 6th season.
2018 UM 4 Games, 2019 UM 4 games,2020 UM 6 games, 2021 UT 8 games, 2022 UT 9 games, & 2023 now, think the Covid year plays in he has 12 TDs & Zero Interceptions at UT. Talk about experience he's played in 31 games should be a man amongst boys. 23 year old will be 24 in March not as old as Hooker but hopefully he can be that mature leader Hooker was. GBO
