Its laugable that we bring in a proven winner and us so called fans are upset? FL hired a coor that had never been a HC they seem to be doing alright. Lets give him some time. Atleast the guy wanted to be here. More than I can say for that espn announcer we were in love with.

Rush and budget hire. That is the truth. He may work out or he may not.

The fans are divided. It is bad. That is just the way it is right now.

You didn't know that this site was filled with football prophets that already know Jones will fail? I agree with you 100%, but you should be warned of the highly intelligent responses you are about to get.

From an earlier post of mine. Pretty much sums up how I feel about it.

"Doesn't matter, there will still be people around here who are like kids on Christmas morning. They wake up to a tree with numerous new toys under it, but still want to whine and cry because Santa didn't bring the one toy they had thier hearts set on."

Go Vols!! and Go CBJ!!

Other than on this sit, which I'm near positive the only reason people come is to b***h about things, the fan base is behind CBJ and believes he can bring us back.

I'd say 95 percent are in. I have built a record breaking ignore list. I just dont care to hear the cry babies.

To paraphrase former Defense Sec'y Rumsfeld, "You go to war with the army you have, not the army you wished you had." Butch Jones is our guy, he's our fb HC, get behind him, sellout to win, or begone you foul defeatist demons before we summon an exorcist! Sheeesh!

There is a difference between being behind him and the team, and being happy about the hire.

Fact is, he has as many wins against ranked teams as Dooley, 0. His recruiting classes at Cincinnati are bad at best (albeit it's Cincinnati). He got smacked around pretty good by a Dooley coached Vols team filled with underclassmen that finished with a losing record. He is a former coach in the worst BCS conference in America.

The hire was cheap, rushed, and all around butchered. He is a gamble that may or may not pay off, and with the position we're in, most people recognized that we really needed a sure thing, not another up and comer.

That being said, he's the coach. For now, he has my support. I will be at all the games next year just as I have been, but I'm certainly skeptical about his chances, and quite upset with the administration for once again flipping a coin on the program's future.

He matched Charlie Strong or out recruited him and I didnt hear anyone talk about that, he finished tops in a crap conference year in and out, and we beat him at his worst year at the school if I'm not mistaken....

Blame your athletic director. Some of the coach-hiring rules that he broke:

1. Don't fire your current coach unless you already have a good replacement ready that you know will take the job.

2. Targeting bigger fish than the good replacement is OK but don't allow them to reject you in public.

3. For that matter, don't do anything in public. Make it known that any names or information that leaks did not come from anyone involved in the process.

4. Never, ever make it appear that you had to settle on a guy because a bunch of other guys turned you down (even if you did in fact have to settle). You absolutely have to make it look like the guy you hired was the top candidate for the job, even if he really wasn't.

I know, I know everyone should think the way you do. We should all be in lockstep with you. I guess if some don't think the way you do then they are not real fans. Were all you guys all in for Dooley this past season? He was, by the way OUR coach? He was what we had. It didn't matter if he was not the one (we felt) to lead us back to championships, he was what we had. Well that's the way some of us feel about this coach. We aren't happy with the process nor the hire. To say that we are not fans is asinine. Do you people remember Bill Battle? I do. I'm sort of an against the grain guy. I don't go along with the masses unless I feel they're right. To call the non-believers non-fans really gets my goat. I'll bet I'm looking at more Vol mementos than most of you will ever see. Vol pasta and steak sauce is not free, nor is Tostitos Chips that were bagged in 1998 and sold at the Fiesta Bowl.

Speaking as one who is unhappy with the hire, it is nothing to do with whether Jones is a good guy or has had success in the minor leagues. The problem a lot of fans including myself have is we were promised so much more than this by Hart. This is a huge letdown and this hire will not bring Tennessee back to greatness anytime soon.

How do figure that? What damage have I done so far? Is buying Vol stuff damaging? Is going to games damaging? Is wearing my Vol sweatshirts and hat damaging? Which part is the most damaging, if I might ask? I simply don't like this hire. Did you absolutely back Dooley this past season? Did you curse Kiffin's name? If not you must be a saint, because everyone I know that was a Vol fan did.

I just hope that the unhappy fans, and I do believe they are a vast minority, don't direct their unhappiness with the administration at CBJ.

I honestly hope he never loses another game. I really do. I just don't feel as happy as you do. I don't like the idea of Tennessee making desperate hires on the cheap. I've backed this team for too long, and I'm tired of this.
