I don't understand all this griping about a 'cheap' hire? The guy is getting over 3 million a year, that's by no means cheap.
Also, I know Doolittle beat him and that's honestly my only reservation with the guy. The fact remains he's won 4 conference titles in 6 years. He's doing something right. How did Doolittle do at La Tech? Oh wait, that's right. Nevermind.
Winners win, losers lose. CBJ has the resume of a winner and he's got my support.
GBO!
If everbody would sit back and think about it, the cinn. game was the best we played in 3 years everthing went our way then the next week Hunter went down then you know the rest of the story.::eek:hmy:

Most of true fans will give Butch Jones a chance the keyboard junkies probably have never graced the walls of Neyland. I've been there since 1969 and seen it all at least the Doo Doo era is over lets build the Butch Jones Era

Jones will be fine if he and staff can recruit good players. Florida is always fine because they get their pick of florida HS stars, so their defense is usually stout, for starters.

I don't dislike Butch Jones. He may be the best hire that we could have possibly made. With any hire whether it be Jon Gruden, Bill Belichick(sp) or Butch Davis, or Butch Jones there is a risk that it won't work out. When you hire a relatively unkown coach such as Butch Jones the risk is higher that they won't make it. The bigger the name suggest they have a better track record of success. Also, bigger names tend to attract better recruits so making the odds of success even more infavor of the bigger name coaches.

I don't know whether Butch Jones will be unsuccessful, moderately successful or wildly sucessful. I can tell you after the last several years I have grown tired of investing myself emotionally into the UT football team when it doesn't appear that the UT administration are fully invested into making UT a national contender again. This is displayed by their willingness to take chances on the head football coach instead of ponying up for the big gun ala Alabama.

Didn't Cincy end up ranked at the end of the year that we beat them? Didn't we go 5-7?

Yeah I thought they finished like #22 or something. Thing is, the first game of the last 2 seasons, the Vols could've beaten good SEC teams. It's like as the season goes on, as other teams get film on us and make adjustments we get worse and our confidence goes down until we just can't even beat Vandy or KY

If CBJ can produce the same results that he has in his past then I'll be happy...especially if he can produce championships...

Those who discussed Jon Gruden for two straight months had their feelings hurt. That's all it is.

This maybe true, but those wishing for Gruden knew the shape of the program and that a huge hire was the only way to recruit and win very soon....they had high hope's and so did I.....I still have hope but know it will take much much longer to be competitive
