What's Your Favorite Thing About Following Recruiting?

The class rankings, and how some will feel victorious if their beloved school a is ranked 1 or 2 classes higher than hated school b. As if this is some type of victory. Laughable actually when you think about it.... Oh, and the BOOMS too!

Knowledge and there are some funny folks on here.

Both of those things are what brought me to VN and have solidly kept me here. Once I found the joys of never leaving the recruiting forum, my VN experience was complete.

One of my favorite parts of the recruiting process is when we are approx. 4 weeks out from nsd and we get to see numerous "insiders" flock to the forum. Then comes the predictions, you know, "my guy says he's all UT". Then when we miss on a kid, the excuses follow. Quality entertainment!

On a serious note, hope is what I enjoy about the recruiting classes. In actuality, that's what has kept me bleeding orange for the past 6 or 7 years.

Reading how posters breakdown a kids film is one of the most laughable things on here.

It's pretty simple for me. No off season in recruiting and its competitive against schools I hate most times. Tennessee is in a great situation to really make recruiting exciting compared to most other schools too. No player out there is too talented to not give ut a look so we get to follow us going after the top guys in the nation every year. Plus recruiting well is more important now than its ever been in our program's history. Then on top of those factors our coaches are just killing it out on the trail.

I like to think of it like hunting...

In hunting, you may take time to prepare. Putting out decoys, gun choice, calls (turkey and ducks), picking your spot, setting up a stand, and/or preparing dogs. The true excitement of hunting is when you get your sites set on the target. (deer, turkey, dove, quail, ducks, etc.)

There is a lot that goes on during the recruiting process. Gathering that information is great, but the true excitement comes with the commit.

There is nothing better then getting a 6.0 4* or a 5*. Anything less leaves a hollowness inside me, that lasts for two or three days. 3 stars are not boom worthy.

So you are saying the best CB we have on our team was not boom worthy when he committed to the Vols and signed NSD 2013?

For me it is knowing the kids and the path they took to get here. I knew who Bryce Brown was and watched for him immediately, but other than the big names, had no idea. Got interested in recruiting about the time North committed. It was cool watching kids like Foreman and Swafford last year to see how they did.

Got news for you Bromo, your posts aren't boom worthy either!
