What's Your Favorite Thing About Following Recruiting?

Good lord is it that hard to figure out? If you had 25 5*s and 25 3*s, gues what the 5s would win.

Okey-dokey. Thanks for clearing that up for me. I just realized I know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about football, recruiting, or actually needing to play the game. :good!:

Auburn had a ton of 4 and 5 stars and went 3 and 9. It happens every week too

Auburn was ONE example yes but look what they did the very next year. I bet the players knew they were playing for a lame duck coach and one that wasn't very good. I could list off 20 schools that were loaded with 4s and 5s that had success. Then there are teams like Missouri which is ONE example of a team with 3 stars that over achieves and has a very good coach. There are examples on both sides but there is no denying that more 5s is better then more 3s, there is no argument.

This. You have to have the coaching. You have to play as a "team." There is so much more to it than filling a team up with 5*s. Look at the talent Florida had last year and the season they had. Look at Oregon, Virginia Tech, Boise State, Michigan State, UCF, Louisville, ASU, Duke, etc. All these teams aren't full of 4-5*s but they seem to do pretty well imo.

With the exception of Oregon I don't want to be like those teams. UT is better then all of them. I want UT to be a power like Alabama where we belong. Not a virginia tech or duke or UCF.

5 stars are shiny but aren't worth squat if they can't be coached. Candy wasn't loaded with 4 and 5 stars, but had 9 wins including Florida and Georgia

Didn't say I wanted to be like any of those teams. Your argument is that you can't win without a team full of 4-5*s. I was only listing some successful teams who aren't full of them. Pretty simple.

Ok. Virginia tech is on the decline and Michigan state has a great coach. I think we would of beaten ASU and Duke and Va tech last year. Louisville didn't play anyone and yes I know they beat FL but they didn't want to be there just like Bama getting beat by OU means absolutely nothing. We will beat OU. You mad?

Gives you hope and the highs and lows if you are a junkie like when we get that big time player the booming and then when one gets away you feel like putting your head threw the wall.:banghead2:

Vanderbilt had a great coach. I dislike Franklin as much as anyone but he can coach and he will win a national championship at some point

Why would I be mad? Lol...you seem to be forgetting your original point about being mad or upset when we land a 3* player. I was only providing examples of teams who are successful without rosters loaded with 4-5*s. Tennessee isn't a team loaded with 3*s anyway. So I don't really get your point to begin with. Either way I'm done with the conversation. Agree to disagree maybe? :hi:

Seems like when we got the skill players we have no line play or very young like this year and then we got the line play we have no skills every year it seems like well we are to young, but with 2 more top recruiting classes maybe next year will be now instead of saying wait till next year I really think by 2016 we will be a top 10 team we just got to hang in there and get 2 more recruiting classes with big DL and OL, then bring on the big boys because we will be one of them.:lolabove:

My favorite thing besides reading the posts of many of you - which can be so amusing and informative - are the postings of offered recruits along with their highlights. I really like to compare their Rivals rating with what I see in the highlights. For me that builds the excitement of their pursuit by the staff.

Sometimes it is even fun to watch the posters that blow in like tornadoes and go away almost as fast. I don't care for the ripping of the recruits, but also think realistic opinions should be discussed.
