It's not "when did you want to punch-out Dooley" because the wee-hours of Sunday morning we all did, but rather, when did you come to the realization that he isn't the man?

For me, it's actually been what a lot of people regard as a Dooley strength: his pressers.

"Showergate" made explicit to me that he was doing his OJT as a big time football coach. I think that was before he had even coached a game. Comparing the Vols to the damn Nazi army was just asinine in the "Looking for Rommel" soliloquy. I got tired of Dooley using the UTHFC position to audition for some stand-up comedy headlining tour.

When the staff bolted on him in the off-season for lateral moves, it was clear we were headed for a dumpster fire. He could not instill faith in the process with the people he assembled to put the process together. Josephs might have been the most damning.

The on-the-field record speaks for itself.

He deserves his buy-out; he stabilized the programme from the dumpster fire that was Kiffin's March through Knoxville. But we have to replace him this year, and we have to hit a homerun with the next hire.

Partially at the end of last season, partially how he handled the offseason, but mostly for actually getting my hopes up that Vandy would not be a "pick em". I had bought back in before the Florida game. That one was the one that put the straw on the camels back, the first half vs Akron broke it.

Miss State only confirmed it. He is done at UT.

1 minute after his hiring, which was 59 seconds too slow.

Mods can we move all the "fire dooley" threads into one thread, so we do not have to read all the threads over and over?

If thats the case, can they also put all the "We are going to beat Bama" delusions into one thread as well? Need a True Fan containment thread as well.....

Come one, seriously?

If there was an on-the-field moment for me, it was when he allowed his OC to seize defeat from the jaws of victory against Florida.

I don't care how well this Florida is doing and how highly ranked they are - it is the most unbalanced Florida team in a generation, and Muschamp (Dooley's SEC foil) has come up with a formula for winning with them.

However, if we had known that the whole staff was going to skeedattle on "the process" he should not have been allowed back on the bus in Lexington.

I pretty much agree, OP...

Dooley is going to make someone a damn good Athletic Director. But he's not a HC. I've supported him, not only because I like him, but also to show support for the entire program...

I almost punched my ticket at half time Saturday night. But then I jerked it back as we started to recover...then I punched it with conviction when Ms St. was able to hit the closing TD pass to completely seal the deal. That was it for me. That was a pie in his face as our defense was EXPECTING a clock eating run or a kneel down to kill the clock...Coach Mullen respected our offensive power and decided to bury it...good call on his part. We were were caught with our pants around our ankles and picking our noses.

I was at the UF game and watched us get out coached and the team quit. I still held onto a small string of belief even through UGA. Saturday was one of the most ill prepared fiascos of a first half and team I have ever seen especially coming off of a bye week. We are now staring down the gun of being 3-5 and no sec wins in September or October since 2009.....I'm punched out

saturday night was the last straw for me. ive tried and tried to give the guy the benefit of the doubt. of course he always has some excuse instead of taking some blame himself. im not saying he needs to come out and say "i stink as a coach" but he could at least own up a little, something like "you think with 2 weeks to prepare we would have corrected some things. so that falls on me. ive got to do better as the HEAD COACH of a major university"

2 weeks to prepare and that garbage was all they(dooley and his staff) could come up with? if they want to say we dont have the personnel to run the 3-4 then dont run it. we dont have to be Bama north for petes sake. Florida seems to be doing ok with a 4-3. geez

last thing, why isnt cp touching the ball 20-25 times a game. dude is instant offense. he sould be dog tired at the end of the game from running with the ball.

Florida game this year. Was willing ti take him back post UGA if he showed he could win a riad game vs a ranked opponent, but of course he let me down. DWD. Done with Dooley.

"I didn't care about last year, it was just another year for me. I had been waiting on 2012 the whole time.

Florida was bad for everyone. Even the CFB analysts and experts knew that it was over.
UGA was Dooley's only chance for a "signature" win this year outside of Florida.

Mississippi State sealed the deal for me. To me, it was the make-or-break leading up to the season, I didn't expect us to really be THAT competitive with the big dogs, but I'm over it.

I consider myself a very objective, level-headed, person. That game was it. If I were a fan of any other team it would be apparent to me that UT would continue a downward trend with Dooley at the helm. I simply can not support this coach anymore.

Now we have another 2-3 years of BS coming up. Depending on the hire, the suffering could spill into the next decade.

I'm sick of us having to watch highlights of last millenium's Tennessee to feel any sense of pride. That's the only way that ESPN and CBS market us now. "Hey, they USED to be good! Tune in to see how far they've fallen" is usually where it goes.

Before the UF game, it was very apparent: "This rivalry USED to be worth a damn! Could be coming back? Check in and see!"

They'll do it before the Bama game too probably. SHow a bunch of highlights from the 70s-90s and call it a "storied" rivalry with "history."

I'm sick of THAT. I want to be back in the discussion every year.

And if this truly is IT, if we're really doomed to mediocrity from here on out and we truly were spoiled in the 90s by a once-in-a-lifetime coach for this program, I at least want to see us go down fighting, throwing money at everything that we can throw money at and networking the crap out of anyone that's worth it."
