When our once proud defense made a negative statement in the first half against Mississippi State. Probably THE most depressing 1/2 of defensive football in the last 50 years. Someone has to take responsibility.
Yep...You had a chance to be right and blew it big time on this entire board...concerning Shannon as DC...Wonder what would happen if you were punched out for getting that one soooooo wrong????
Don't like it when it happens to you, do you? :cray:
It's not "when did you want to punch-out Dooley" because the wee-hours of Sunday morning we all did, but rather, when did you come to the realization that he isn't the man?
I've been following TN football since I was around 10 years old (I'm 51 now) and I got off the Dooley truck after last year's KY game. I went up to Lexington with a friend from Knoxville (we usually make that trip) and that was the worst played game that I can remember seeing. The most horrible loss with so much on the line was the 2001 SECCG that I witnessed at the GA Dome, the only solace from that one was when TN kicked Michigan all over the field in the bowl game.
Well Saturday night was it for me what a debacle! Kentucky last year was on the players i believe. He could get pissed and bench them when they don't perform and bark back when asked to explain what happened. But we can't win with our starters much less the back ups!
:question:The Kensucky game last year. Come on a 3rd string WR beat us at QB. Ilike the guy but he is a lawyer tryin to play football coach it dont work. VFL!!!!!!!
Last season I blamed the players more than anyone because they quit on him. They quit on him because they didn't wanna play in a sh%tty bowl, and the season was plagued by injuries. I was done with him when we all got so so so pumped at the Florida game (I was there) and to lose the way we did...That's when I knew if Dooley couldn't beat Florida before they got on a roll, he would NEVER beat them or any other team of relevance.
Carolina game.. the worst loss since LSU 2001 SEC Championship game and it was at the Music City Bowl. A. It shows how bad the program has fallen and B. One of the many examples of Dooley's inability to win a game when it matters.
I have honestly tried to do everything I could to be behind this coach. Saturday night did it for me. I am just tired of coming up with excuses to keep Coach Dooley. The SEC landscape is so vastly different that not making the change might hurt us even more. Believe me, I really tried to not to get to this point of giving up on our coach. Results matter. Sadly I think that the situation was really no-win for him as soon as he stepped on the podium in 2010.
I never punched in, just felt he was a better man, and had more character than scumbag Kiffen...I still do. But nothing before UT or at UT hs proven him to be able to be a "GREAT" coach, outside of that and on the more important things in life, he's just a really good guy, and and you got to be pretty evil to dislike him. I'd like to see him bust out and prove he can do it....and so I want him back at least one more year with his seniors. But I am not putting money there.
