When did you punch-out on Dooley?

MSU game. 2 weeks to prepare for an inferior team and he couldn't close the deal. I could care less if he goes undefeated for the rest of the season, he needs to go.

When the kickoff hit the ground. I've never had my opinion of a persons competence swing that quickly. I was in his corner to the point that I've been labeled a "kool-aid drinker". But that was embarassing.

Not to pump sunshine into your rainy parade but the 3 losses have been to the #2, #11, and #12 teams in the BCS and they have a combined ONE loss between them. The Vols will probably lose the next two games as well seeing as how they are against the #1 and # 7 BCS teams with a combined ONE loss between them.

No one thought UT was a top 25 team when the year began and they still aren't. Further, they are 3-3 and all of the losses are reasonably close games to 3 teams in the top 12.

There is plenty to be upset about but it is way too early to start firing coaches. Too much turnover at the top is what got the Vols into this mess in the first place.

Sorry to interject some common sense into your rants.

Honestly after the UK loss. To me that was evidence that he can't get his players up for a game. I was still willing to give him a fair shot to win me back this year but, while there has been some improvement, the way the team came out after the bi for MSU was just another string of examples that he isn't going to get it done.

We are more competitive this year but we can't close and that is troubling.

UK loss is when he lost me... well maybe the LSU/UNC "games over but not over" debacles. Not completely his fault so that may be unfair of me.

I have never been a huge fan of the hire. I always thought UT deserved a bigger name and proven winner.

To be completely honest here, I really am starting to like his personality. He seems like the kind of guy that has his head on straight I just don't know if he is a top tier SEC caliber head coach.

I did after I drove to Lexington to witness the end of the streak. I was more optimistic after the NC State game but I was done after UF.

I am on the same level with you. I was hoping that UT could beat MSU, and still believe they are better, but I agree with you whole hearted.

GO VOLS!!!

In all honesty I started having serious doubts after the UGA game last year.

Then we had 3 30+ point losses, had to take Vandy to OT and lost to Kentucky.

I was a fool and bought back in with the NCSU game. I punched-out for the last time after the Florida game.

Wrap-up:

"It's okay to lose every game against ranked opponents. Now go out there and keep my support by beating Vandy and Kentucky!"

That Kentucky game last year was just too much for me.

Of course, I had never really supported the hire to start with.

4th quarter of the Florida game. Watching him act like a brat on the sidelines was unacceptable.

The 4th quarter of this year's UF game was Dooley's Waterloo moment for me. He teased me a bit with UGA but this weekend's MSU debacle pretty much reaffirmed my opinion after the UF game.

I like the guy but he just doesn't have it. If only he could win, I think parents would line up to have their kids play for him. He truly seems like a good man but the football acumen and results are severly lacking. At some point you are what your results indicate.

The day he was hired. I looked up his record from a bottom feeding school and wondered what the crap we had just done. I liked some of his approaches and his demeanor, but he is all style, no substance. His recruiting is slightly above average, but I think this university is an easy sell to recruits given our history and facilities AND potential. Unfortunately, these kids are seeing we will not be a winning program in the forseeable future.

Saturday night for me. As much as I have wanted CDD to succeed, reality set in at the end of the MSU game.

I like your attitude, man...I really do. And I see the common sense in your opinion...

...but this is a broken record. You're going to find yourself saying the same exact thing next year at the same exact time. I found myself saying the same thing, lookin for ways to justify the situation. The fact of the matter is, our schedule only gets worse next year....we lose significant talent to the NFL or ineligibility, and the teams you mentioned above are going to be just as good or better than they are this year. Not to mention Oregon (in Eugene) very early in the season. Rationale has been made through Dooley getting us out of the dumpster fire...VERY VERY grateful to him for that. I'll always give credit to CDD for that...and totally respect his role in our rebuilding situation. But the time has come to move to the next level...and we need a guy that knows how to assemble the pieces that are here now to develop the machine that competes emotionally and physically on every down....not 80-90% of the plays. That's the difference between good coaching and great coaching.

Thank you, Coach Dooley for taking this role and making it better for us...but it is now time to move on.

When I heard his Mama whining on the Paul Finebalm program before he was hired about how much Derek deserved to coach a major program. Then she returned after he was hired and whined about how disadvantaged he was at TN

When I had to google him when he was hired.

Seriously though, after UF this year

I'm exactly the same as above.

I'll add that I defended the hell out of him here last year and prior to that too proclaiming numerous times that "Tennessee should avoid installing a revolving door at the coache's office". My words exactly in fact on several threads. All of that being said, I feel certain he has done all he is capable of in Knoxville. There is restored order, which is what you should have expected when you hired him. Thats about it. He's a "transition" coach.

Step 1 in the process.

Now is the time for step 2.

What will you do next?

kensucky was the tipping point

i could have been won over this year, but he is running out of games and it does not look likely.

The day he was hired. Then decided to give him the benefit of the doubt. Lost all faith during the KY game of last year.
