Where are those morons who think Stoops is a good coach still?

Give Heupel a raise but paying Stoops 9 million per year is crazy. This year would have been a perfect time to let him shop himself around. If he goes, he goes and you look for a young up and comer. Right now, UK is locked into 2 older, slightly above average coaches in football and basketball.
It's an SEC market thing.

Kiffin is making $9M, Kelly is getting nearly $9M, Jimbo is at $9M, and Kirby and Saban even more.

Expecting top 10 results from Heupel on a near bottom of the SEC salary is just telling him we don't value his work.

I'd say Stoops is just barely above average. His programs will average 7 or 8 wins with the occasional 9 or 10 win season and a bad season (<6 wins) here or there.

Kentucky or any program for that matter will never be elite with Stoops at the helm. I question his staffing decision-making with how badly they regressed after hiring Scangarello.

Let’s face it. There isn’t a coach out there that could make UK elite.

Stoops isn't a very good coach but they'll have a bounce-back year next season. Ridiculously easy schedule (first four games are glorified exhibitions). Coen is back. Recruiting class is mediocre but they're doing very well in the portal. I expect Vince Marrow will be talking trash on twitter like they're really something a lot next year.

If there is a silver lining to the Vols' struggles from 2008-2020, it's that I now appreciate beating the hell out of teams like Kentucky. In the 80s, 90s, and most of the 2000s, I took for granted that we'd beat teams like Kentucky and South Carolina. So even when we beat them, I didn't derive a lot of enjoyment from it. Hell, if they played us close, it was a downer.

Next year, I can't wait to beat the hell out of Kentucky, South Carolina, Florida, Missouri, and Vanderbilt. I don't care what their records are. They all took advantage of UT's downturn to some degree and beat us multiple times. Of course, Florida owned us and SC just beat us this year. That should never happen with programs like that (other than Florida, when they're good).

Never again will I not enjoy beating a conference opponent of any caliber.

Krogers is putting the players on the field, he just can't mold them into SEC caliber. He is probably the best coach they can get at this time.

Why would he even want to go anywhere else? They are already paying him way more than anyone else would offer. He is in the "cat bird" seat. If I were Stoops, I would stay at KY forever or until they fired me or until I wanted to leave. There is no incentive for him to leave.

Agreed! He has done things there very few ever had. He's a really good Coach for KY.

Is he really a good coach though? When I think of a good coach they excel even with subpar talent. Stoops was able to benefit from the SEC east being down. This year his team basically cashed it in after UT drug that ass.

Saban didnt win any championships at Michigan State. He's pretty good.

He coaches at Kentucky... The irony being that he's the only reason 7 wins could remotely be considered a bad season at Kentucky.

7 wins auto adds another year to his contract.

Clearly the admin doesn’t think 7 wins is bad, just TN fans

Kentucky has won 10 or more games exactly 4 times in their history.
Stoops is responsible for 2 of them. Even Bear Bryant only won 10 or more once at Kentucky.
Some people are not taking into account how historically bad Kentucky typically is.
