the thing that gets lost in people's desire to call out other posters is the fact that Dooley's success was directly tied to the success of UT football. Wanting him to succeed didn't mean you weren't a UT fan, it just meant you wanted to see UT football succeed. Thought that was something we all wanted

So a Tennessee fan who thought Tennessee would lose to Alabama wanted Tennessee to lose and was happy when Alabama won?

Just checking.

you're crazy if you don't think they exist

Isnt it the same as claiming a Tennessee fan thought dooley would fail and was happy when dooley did fail and Tennessee lost?

lol so confusing, but yes. This thread is for those people. They are looking for the posters who wanted to win games lol. I am blown away by it .. :ermm:

I was a Dooley supporter untill he was fired. I was a Kiffin supporter until he left. I was a Fulmer supporter until he was fired. I was a Majors supporter..on and on. Bottom line..I don't like losing, but I support UT sports and current staff whomever it may be. Not a fair weather fan. TIFWIW

My thoughts exactly....support him (whoever it is at the time) as the coach of your Vols. Guess what- always disparaging the coach on a message board doesn't get him fired; his own performance (record) does.

sorry but recognizing Dooley wasn't going to get it done & wanting him to leave does not make us fair weather fans. You see, coaches come & go but UT does not & if you can't make us better then see ya

After awhile common sense kicks in & support goes out the door for the coach, not UT.

Some of the biggest Dooley supporters? Some who posted everyday have disappeared. They proved my point that they were Dooley fans and trolls , not UT fans. Thanks for staying away , good riddance. I won't call any by name but we know the main offenders. The Volnation IQ has risen 10 points by you not posting.:salute:

as posted we see no need to continue debating the issue since Dooley is no longer our coach, unlike some of the hateful, ugly, low life, low class, trash that post on these forums and we know the main offenders they are on our ignore lists. But it seems I have missed one and that has just been corrected.

To the OP yes I supported Dooley he was the coach of the UT Vols and if you don't like that then you can kiss my 4th point of contact, not on the left side and not on the right side but right dead in the middle.

I went from a Dooley defender to a Dooley Non-defender during and after the Mississippi State game. That's when it was solidified for me!!

That was the turning point for me. I didn't stop rooting for and supporting Dooley, just stop defending him after State...

I've never understood the "I support the coach no matter what" mentality.

  • Would you support your wife/husband if they consistently undermined your marriage?
  • Would you support the president if he was an epic screw up and messed up the country?
  • Would you support using leeches to cure a fever just because it is considered a legitimate treatment?

My head hurts.......OP is a troll and there were those of us that wanted him to succeed because it meant the program succeeding. If that is what you mean then yes I was one of those. I soured on him after MSU, MO sealed it, and Candy wrapped it with a bow. OP went into the season with a 6-7 wish for the Vols knowing it would mean CDD got fired and he could feed on chaos.

Because football isn't life or death or near as serious as any of those issues you listed. Also, what good is it going to do to complain and not support a coach.....he isn't going to be fired because of that. He may be fired when the fans as a whole stop supporting him by not going to the games but this would be as a direct result of losses 99% of the time.

Not gone, just time to support the new coach!

The thing I will miss the most about Dooley. Not clicking on ESPN and seeing our team in jail every week. He may have sucked as a coach but, he was a very good man. Cared about Tennessee and the team. I hope the new coach will do the same.

My point was if you are a UT fan why would you stop posting when the coach is fired? The program is still here. If you posted all of the time and stop because Dooley was fired you are more of a Dooley fan than a fan of the program.

Obviously, there were some who are probably fans of other schools who took great amusement in twisting the knife over Dooley. I'm not going to say that thier trolling was justified but some of our fanbase did go rogue pretty fast when Kiffin was fanning flames left and right. It's all over now. We're taking appropriate steps to get back to where we belong, which means some of them are going to have to come down a notch. It'll even out eventually.

The posting stopped because he is gone and we are working on the next coach, which is what's best for the program. We moved on and are ready to see who is on the sideline asap. Maybe you should try the same. It's how men handle situations, so it may be foreign to you.
