Where did the season go wrong?

Your savior is wearing a redshirt and a sling on the sidelines.  This team will finally be motivated next year.

I sure hope you're right about Crompton. By the way, he was out on the field making some good looking passes during the pregame. So the sling is off.

That's good to hear. Someone mentioned leadership on here earlier... everything this guy says and does screams "LEADER" to me. Many of our top recruits from last year came here thanks to the politic-ing of JC. He seems to have the intangibles.

When I was watching the QB's warm up and make their passes, I saw Ainge throwing high and hard, Clausen throwing slow balls and Crompton was right on the money except for 1 pass. I think he could start right now if he was 100%

It would be dumb to burn that redshirt for a season with 4 losses already. All this fan fallout will die down over the week... will flame up again if we lose again... but the offseason heals most wounds. JC will be ready to play this spring and will snatch the QB job right up. :D

This season went wrong when in the preseason Fulmer said "he wasnt worried about the QB position" and something to the effect of he wished every position was in as good of shape as the QB position.

Trust me, I don't want to use his redshirt up on this pitiful excuse for a season. I was just saying that he looked like a starter warming up.

Ok gotcha, that goes for Coker too!

AGREED! What happened to Foster tonight? The announcers said he had been hurt, but he was on the field, and the ball was thrown to him on that last series. ???

I think that it's a sprained knee. Not 100 percent positive, but I think that's what Fulmer said.

It would suck to lose him too. He's been running so hard. Hardesty, Riggs, AND Foster being out could hurt badly.

If that's so, I say put one of our WR's back there to run. Lord knows they can't catch it and do anything with it. Maybe if we hand the ball to them, they'll go racing down the field.

Seriously though, Fulmer said that we might see more of Holbert and Anderson lined up to run the ball. :ermm:

:birgits_giggle: You know... Meachem has a similar body type to Chris Brown (Colorado, Titans) ... ...

And no, I don't think the injury excuse will come... they couldn't produce BEFORE the injuries, so they can't use that as an excuse AFTER the injuries.

The problem started when CPF didn't choose a QB in the beginning and STICK with him. Having a 2 QB system is like having a company with 2 ceo's. :banghead:

I'm afraid you're right. We got lucky with it last year. I'll save the argument on who it should have been... that has be argued plenty on this board.

I agree on the QB issue but the problems with this squad run much deeper than the QB play.

That is probably the most visible but there have not been many bright spots for this offense.

I think this season was over before it even began. All of the off the field trouble showed that this team didn't have the focus or discipline of a national championship title team.

I started to get concerned when Crompton went down. I've never been too high on Ainge or Clausen. Too bad we couldn't combine the two and call them MasterBlaster! OK, some of you may not get that....

Leadership should not come from a player. Leadership should come from the top...this has been the root of all problems during the PF era. When players emerge as leaders, e.g., Tee Martin and Al Wilson, we have good teams; when there isn't any field leadership, or if we just have a group leader, we suck.

Leadership is making decisions that some players don't like; PF will not do that. Here is what should have been done:

1) Ainge should have been named the starter at the start of Fall camp; he should have received 90% of all practice reps with the starting receivers.

2) If a player makes a mistake in practice, he should either do pushups or run (no exceptions).

3) If a player makes a costly mistake in a game, he should set on the bench for a series.

4) If a player cannot accept team rules, cut him. This means that he does not have the discipline and tanacity to play SEC football.

It is much better to be respected than liked. PF wants to be liked by the players; this has destroyed his ability to be an effective leader.

I hope you're right, but I'm afraid it won't matter who the QB is if we don't get someone other than RS to be the QB coach.

I've said Crompton will be our man next year for the past 2 or 3 weeks.....I saw him last night and he looked good, just don't take that red shirt off of him this year, PLEASE! That would be retarded.....Leave it on there until next year and let him come out next year and tear it up

its about character. After seeing that Tony Mcdaniel video and fulmer allowed that THUG back on this team it says something about leadership. This team lacks morality and character to lead the younger guys whom will oine day be seniors on this team. You lead by example and it has shown on the field.

Well said. This years team started out with so much potential.
Somewhere along the way they lost sight of their potential as players and winners. There has to be onfield leadership. The coaches can only do so much from the sidelines during the game. Someone on field has to step up and take control, both on offense and defense. That is why captains are named. They can't be afraid to get in the other players faces when plays go wrong. We do not have that kind of leadership this year. Al Wilson never hesitated to get in someones face if they needed it. Even Casey Clausen would get on the Oline if he thought he was'nt getting enough time in the pocket. Everyone can't be a follower, someone has to be leader.
