I know...some of you are allergic to the truth.

The truth is that our OL this year is one that me, and alot of other Vol fans, are pretty dang excited about.

Sometimes you post like you're on antiVOLamines. Check your perscription. :)

I think our RB's are ok and can still become studs. They are still young, so there is a chance, but the gaping hole argument to me isn't a good one.

O-Lines don't really open those gaping holes that often. They are expected to open a hole, which for the most part our guys did when actually given the chance to run block (play calling). The RB is expected to make something out of the hole that was made. Gaping holes are just a bonus.

Bama and Georgia have opened up some huge holes...so has LSU.

I am excited about it. One of the top O-Lines in the country. Pretty sure most analyst agree with that too. Right now, the only really proven strong point of our team.

This will be a very good line...The fact that they have not, to this point, been very good run blocking is not an insult...its an observation. It doesn't mean they won't be better next year. Nobody knows what they will do next year.

So has UT......and....and....and (insert any school you like for the ands)? It is not something that is done on a regular bases on any team. You don't really believe that it is do you?

I'm not gonna keep going around in circles with you on this...I will just ask you, Do you think that UT's offensive line has been better than average at run blocking?

Statistically they're one of the best pass protecting OL's UT has probably ever had. But I think some of that can be attributed to the fact that Bray never really hung in the pocket for too long this year. He was very quick to throw it away. On a scale of F - A+ I'd rank them say A- to B+. They don't really get to the second level when run blocking. We need a power back to dump truck LB's and safeties.

I can agree with that.

Its just with the talent that we have there I'm choosing to go with an optimstic outlook. Between that, and what I'm gonna do to my liver, I'll be pretty confident come september.

My honest assesment....avg to slightly better than avg. I say that because they really were not given the chance to mature in a real game environment the way they were in pass blocking. This IMO was due to game time coaching, play calling and bad throws and drops, which put us behind in games, causing us to have to play a passing game. Not as much due to the O-Line players themselves.

I mean really....calling pass plays on third and one. Even if our RB's were only avg 2 yds a carry odds say run the ball.

And, sorry. Didn't really think we were going around in circles as much as giving different opinions on a subject that i'm sure we both hold near and dear to us. UT football.

I agree that play calling hurt the run game..What you just said about the run blocking was the exact same as my original point. The O-line was great at pass blocking and average at run blocking...where is the difference in opinion?

In case no one could tell. I really hated the play calling last year. :)

I can honestly say our 3rd down offensive play calling was better than our 3rd down defensive play calling.

heh...didnt make me feel better either.

Tried to help.

Yeah. I don't even want to discuss defensive play calling. I'll admit. I was one who thought Sal was going to be the next best thing to sliced bread. Ugh! I was sooooo wrong.

I vomitted a little in my mouth just thinking about it. :yuck:

Give me a date and time.

On the subject of O-Line again. I do want to give props to our former O-Line coach. He did do a great job with our young men. I hope his replacement is as good or better than him. I'll have to trust CBJ on that right now.
