Where do u rank our O-line?

No question. There aren't a bunch of Barrett Jones-es just waiting to be plugged in. He is a special player and leader.

It'll be up to Steen or one of the guys who've been waiting in the wings to fill that leadership void.

I really think that will be a huge question for the 2013 Tide. I agree about Jones...For me, it will be interesting to see if Steen and #71 Kwandjio (?) will be able to provide the leadership necessary to return to the level of play these guys maintained. Of course--being a VOL fan--I hope they don't! :salute:

Extremely good pass protectors, but you have to admit they showed signs of improvement in run blocking. Actually, I saw quite a bit of improvement in that area - they just had crap RBs. This O-line is the only bright spot on the team, but if I'm going to pick an area to be strong in, it would be the line on both sides of the ball.

Neal and Lane may not be "studs", but they are solid RBs. UT has way too many run plays disrupted in the backfield for me to blame it solely on the RBs.

Maybe that was becaue half of the run plays Chaney called last year were out of that stupid pistol formation that we only ran the ball out of so everyone knew what was coming when we lined up in it.

I would take our OL over any other in the country.

Individually and position-by-position, they may not be THE most talented but, collectively, there's no other line in the country that I'd rather have.

There are at least 4 future NFL players on the line.

wha?

Richardson 1st round 1tackle taken in draft next year.
James late first round probably 3rd or 4th tackle taken next year.
Fulton 4th round
Stone will make an nfl team.

Anyone that says we won't have top 3 lines in the country next year is delusional. That is no sunshine pumping either. Someone name another line with more draft picks.

Matthews from A&M will be drafted next year, and Cyrus K from Bama could leave early. As of this moment, they'd both likely go before Richardson.

Or we just do not have a stud rb.

A good OL makes a good RB .....they have the talent and ability, coaches just need to create a physical mentality. Hopefully the whole will have a little bit of an attitude to to them that we haven't seen in a few years

Fair enough. The question is still the same though is there another offensive line with more NFL talent in the draft next year? If so I am just curious to who it is.

Maybe Top 10. They are great in pass protection, but merely average in run blocking.

You're probably right, but lets not forget, the scheme wasn't catered toward running the ball under Chaney. They've shown glimpses of being good enough in the run game before.

My favorite was gun with an offset RB ....completely predictable

I see no Negateers negating the fact that our O-line will be the #1 line next year. What we do with the potential? I believe Butch is a Les Miles-type coach that will have the players playing 110% every play for him. His play-calling has been brilliant from the few CMU & Cincy games I have saw him coach. Our RBs showed marked improvement under the tutelage of Graham. I believe we could have 2 1,000 yd backs and a 3,000 yd pass 500yd ru qb! If we get this system in place and the players to run it behind THIS line, our Offensive production could rise from the lofty heights of 12. I am not" sun shine pumping"! I am stating opinions from my ever-biased Volfan point-of-view. And I always will! GO VOLS!
