Time to move on........To seem like such a smart kid, he sure made a very dumb decision. Anyone with half a brain can tell Pastner can not coach. Bad decision but not mine so good luck

CCM has signed Stokes from Memphis. That's it. Hubbs is not from Memphis. I've lived in Dyersburg for awhile. It's not like a Memphis suburb at all. Far from it. We all know how Stokes got here, so there is no need in going into that. I'm not questioning CCM recruiting, but we ALL knew that Nichols was a MUST get as thin as we will be next year in the post. Especially, if Stokes leaves. If we have not learned this lesson already, then let's try to remember it this time. NEVER KEEP ALL YOUR EGGS IN A MEMPHIS BASKET!!!!

I'm not saying anything about dyersburg, Hubbs Memphis ties aren't the least bit related to his town....it starts with the kids he knows, where he played AAU, and where his dad I'd involved in the basketball culture.

And no, Nichols was far from a MUST get, a top 20 player is never a must get there's too much uncertainty.

You're acting as if Tennessee will have no posts next year? It's very likely they'll have stokes, yemi, Davis, Reese in the post..,that's more than adequate...and I'd be willing to bet they'll be adding a juco big.

Hopefully he can prove his detractors wrong this season. He's got the talent to go far.

Memphis dominated Bama in our "scrimmage" on saturday, and Bama is expected to be a tourney team.

I'm psyched for the season to start.

From the things i read they won by 5-10???

Edit: nvm you also made the statement that Memphis would run UT outta the gym, then said they'd win by 8-10....your definitions are different than most peoples, I forgot.

Ok guys TIFWIW I played AAU with Nichols and he's wanting to decommit from Memphis but his dad is wanting him to honor his commitment. Mr Nichols told him to think about it. I text Nichols at least once a week. I'll let everyone know what he says :).

Nichols was a MUST get if that is the only person for that position that you will be week in next year.

I'm looking at all posibilities: We may only have Davis, Reese, Q, and Yemi next year. So yes, Nichols was a MUST get. This will be by far the weakest in the SEC

And I don't hope we add a JUCO, I'm praying that we do at this point. It has to be a priority at this point.

I am interested to see what Memphis does. And I'll be happy to eat crow I just think Pastner is in over his head but this is the year to see....

No official score kept, as you know; but towards the end of the scrimmage Memphis was up 18 or so, stepped off teh gas and Bama closed to 10.

I don't think Grant's staff has released any statement on the scrimmage, but Jason Smith had a source that reported on the score and that the new guys for Memphis performed especially well.

I don't know the final score, but knowing Bama's proclivities from last season, I bet it was a grinder. Winning by 10 is a pretty lopsided win if both teams are scoring in the 50-60s.

Also, If Martin doesn't do something, Tennessee is in a ton of trouble because the guys next year are not the SEC starting Caliber type and no one could argue that. Nichols was a make or break player and I'm still shocked he signed with Memphis. I really hope Martin was just mislead because no way the guy is that silly to stop recruiting other players because he's sold on Nichols. Hopefully this is a lesson he learned and doesn't get burnt like this in the future.

I'm about 80/20 stokes returns...I understand if he goes it's bad...but if he stays we are fine in the post. Did I want Nichols? Damn right, but some of you guys are over reacting.

If there is a chance that Stokes goes at all, then that is how you have to recruit. You can't be caught with your pants down.

Guess it's appropriate to put this here...I've heard from multiple people, Austin informed the staff he was a Vol when he left campus after his OV. They felt good before then, but he gave them the verbal on his visit...thats a big reason why they haven't pursued anyone, they really thought he was theirs.

Now, I understand things change, but if he honestly told the staff this and flipped, well I'll be nice...but it just really leaves the staff in a bad spot.

Just thought I'd share.

Very well might, dont know if it's even a possibility, but Luke Cothron will be eligible this year out of juco.

Was very highly rated, and was high on Tennessee before he committed...he's playing for Forbes so don't know if we would stand a chance or not...

I don't doubt that's true, but the staff has to keep other irons in the fire regardless.

Martin should know that it's not over til it's over.

I agree, and I don't think Martin gave up or anything...honest opinion, I think mom and dad convinced him to stay home,
I truly believe he wants to be at UT.

5 star at one time in HS.
14/8/2 as freshman juco.
