Where do you stand on players opting out of post-season games (with no injuries) to "prepare for the draft"?

Post-season opt outs (with no injury)

Watching so many grown men whine over another adults business decision is hilarious. These players owe you nothing. Literally. If a player makes it this far and wants to ready himself for his career, more power to him.

Bowl games are and always have been meaningless exhibitions unless you're playing for a title.

Buy an insurance policy.. How expensive would that be? And who's going to pay for it? Would you really do that if it was you? How would you know how much to insure? Seems asinine.
Sure it would be expensive, after all, the University made over a million in alcohol sales alone. Not counting merchandise, ticket sales, in addition to other revenue. Not many are going to NFL, why not for the select few who might go on. After all, this was the argument for NIL, "colleges make so much off them". How much? Well that's a discussion between coach and athlete...wouldn't it likely be different for different people? It's "asinine" to think everyone would get the same. lol

What's your suggestion, got one?

In reality, players owe everything to the fans. Without fans, most would never get a degree or go pro.

I don’t see a problem with a player sitting out. Sure it sucks, but at the end of the day I think they need to do what’s right for them. Just my opinion.

Can't see why they can't commit for one more game. I'll tell you us fans sure don't opt out, we'll drop thousands to travel to them play.

What if us fans opted out?

You think they make a million on alcohol sales a game?

Even in the days of multiple groups awarding national titles, there were never more than a small handful of teams in the running at bowl time. The rest played and appreciated the opportunity. Most coaches and players still do.
Not understanding a different mindset is a choice, and you've clearly made yours.

If the players owe fans nothing, then the fans owe nothing to the players.

Not that this is unique to players. Everyone - EVERYONE - takes the fans for granted. Everyone treats them like they're passive money sponges, there to cheer and support and spend no matter how the sport changes.

I hate it but totally understand.

This is a career for some of these men and one game could potentially take millions away from them.

Football is a brutal sport and it just takes one play to end a career.
Football's not brutal. Fighting lions is brutal. Football's one of the rougher popular sports but the risk of serious injury in any one game is minimal.

I'd say they make close to half a million
They claimed, I think it was 2,672,xxx for the entire season of 2021. Then it's split 50/50 with the vendor. They said they had sold over 230k drinks. I'm going on memory here so my numbers might be off a few. Not sure I've saw $$'s for 2022, would think it could be more. It almost has to be, due to games being sold out.

I'm thinking of beers sold, before profits. If 30k buys a beer that's over 300k at 12$ a can. I think most people buy 2 or more. They have to be making more than 200k for the year. I don't know how much they cost at the stadium

They say they're making 2.6 mill for the entire season, selling a total of 230k cans.

Without players, is fans wouldn’t have sports to watch.

Those guys gave up more that most can imagine to get where they are.

Wake up, run, weight room, school, practice, position meetings, eat, team meetings and film, study, go to bed and then start again.

Most have done this since jr high for the most part. If they don’t pan out or mess up fans will turn on them in a heartbeat. If they get hurt, or transfer most of them will be quickly forgotten.

They don’t owe us ANYTHING!!!

They have earned their way. It’s their life and they most definitely should do what’s best for them.
