Where do you stand?

uh huh. right. exactly what I thought.

Um, ok. Apparently you showed us, whatever it was.

The fact that you asked the questions simply points out your view. Look at what Obama has said on the issue, plus he supported the D.C. ban before it was struck down.

But you're right, it's exactly what you thought.

Name the specific crimes, please.

Assault and battery is a violent crime, however, one can do that without a weapon.

Whether the crime was committed with a weapon or not, a violent crime should strip your right to purchase and register firearms. Keep it simple.

I own several guns and was an avid hunter through my young adult life. I have no fear what-so-ever of my gun rights being infringed upon.

He supported a ban on guns in DC, what makes you think he wouldn't support it elsewhere?

So, for every violent crime, the punishment should be life. Interesting take.

Do you mean a conviction on a violent crime should require a forfeiture of the right to own a weapon for life?

Terrific. Everyone doesn't share your opinion though, and with good reason.

Don't be a condecending jackass all the time. JZ posted he was fearful for losing his right to purchase a gun. I asked a simple follow-up to which you felt inclined to insert yourself.

I think if you can legally vote you should be able to own a gun, no matter your history or where you live.

You saying this makes me feel like a kettle being called black. You said there's no reason to fear anything, I pointed out otherwise. If you don't agree with me, that's fine, but stop whining.

I said "I have no fear of losing gun rights". JZ feels differently, I asked his input.

To a certain extent yes. If you can have the conviction expunged, then you regain the right.

To a certain extent, not at all. The warriors that are going to defend your rights, privileges, and the rest of what you take for granted every day of your life, are probably more inclined to actually get in a physical fight every now and then.

If you think a conviction for assault should take the weapons out of their hands for the rest of their lives, then you are going to have to rely on a bunch of poor shots with little to no combat experience if, God forbid, the day ever comes where we, as a people, have to rise up against a tyrannical government.

and for the record several people have already stated my reasons so no need to repeat them.

It was a little tongue in cheek also.

Sounds like you were the one who starting the condescending talk...

See JZ's comment... last time I checked, I was free to disagree with you. Of course, if the Messiah is elected that could change.

There is plenty to fear from a gun owner's POV with an Obama administration. For the last time, if you disagree, that's ok, but to say I'm condenscending right after making your comment is a little hyprcritical. Again, I'll simply disagree with you, and let it go.

Fair enough. If it's solely the DC piece. Based on that instance I don't believe my gun rights will be impacted.
