Because this is not him. The first 6-7 games, he was emotional, still smiling despite the BBQgate, and looked into the game. Now? He doesn't look like he wants to be there. He has the look of someone who ran over his dog. He just doesn't want to be there, which makes no sense, since he'll lose eight games. It almost seems that he knows he's done. I'm not saying that he will be, or he should be, but that's how he looks. I just don't seem the same Bruce Pearl. Reminds me some of 2008-2009, but a lot worse.

I just am surprised right now at the lack of emotion from him, and it's clearly affecting the team. This team's chip is gone...and it makes no sense. You lose to Oakland...okay, we'll be fine. Had a huge high, and brought back to earth. But three games of nothing? Makes absolutely zero sense. I'm not even talking about the basketball aspect. I'm talking the emotional aspect. Does anybody have a clue where the hell this team went in a week?

I saw some talk on TOS that Pearl believes the NCAA is absolutely going to lay the hammer down on him and that Pearl doesn't believe he will be here next season. Don't know if that's true or not, but if it is, it's probably part of the reason Pearl seems different.

I'm inclined to believe this. One of the "higher-ups" at the NCAA just recently made some comments that seemed to be directed at Pearl and his situation. He made it sound as though Bruce may be in for a world of hurt. I think Pearl is as good as gone and he and his team know it. I doubt this season ends well to be honest.

I've heard rumblings that it could be apocalyptic.

Of course, MHF says it's no big deal, so...

None of us really know what it's going to be. Not too much precedence to refer back to.

But, I can definitely tell a difference in Pearl the last week, he doesn't seem his normal self. I think that is most telling. I think we should all honestly prepare for a new coaching search. Not saying I agree or disagree, but it's evident in his demeanor. I don't want to hear he is sad because he is on a 3 game losing streak, that bullcrap is ridiculous. Something has seriously changed with him. I've seen him lose games before, and he usually turns up the volume and is even more vocal, but it doesn't appear that way anymore.

This is why I believe the university made a serious mistake when Pearl wasn't fired. Keeping him as a lame duck coach and keeping the media frenzy going all year is continuing to have a major negative effect on the program. How can he be himself when his career is very likely hanging by a thread. I don't like the approach by Hamilton that unethical behavior is acceptable if you can just win enough. Pearl has done an outstanding job at TN till this point, but he destroyed the good by his unethical behavior and is taking down the program with him.

I would not be surprised to see a 2 year probation, 1 year ban from the tournament, a loss of a scholarship or 2 and a suspension for Bruce Pearl.

Bottom line, he brought it all on himself by not being totally honest ! How many times throughout our lives have we all heard, "honesty is always the best policy" ?Let's face it , he is old enough to know better. I hate it for UT not Bruce Pearl.

The NCAA suspended Dez Bryant in football for a year for lying to them. If they do that to a player don't you think they will make an example out of Pearl. I doubt he is our coach next year.

it was really dumb to keep pearl after what happened. The NCAA would have cut us slack if we fired him.

According to Gary Parrish, the NCAA wanted Pearl fired, since UT didn't I'll guess the school gets hammered and Pearl is out for at least a year.

Do you think if the school is hit REALLY hard Pearl will resign to spare the school the hammer? The NCAA penalties won't be officially given until sometime in June, I believe. Of course it might be too late for any mercy if they urged UT to fire him, and they didn't. Or, if suspended 1 year, turn the program over to Jones and Forbes then come back in 2012?

It is sadly looking like our BB program is going to be set-back 2 to 3 years at least no matter what comes down.
