Whisky, bourbon or scotch and what's your favorite?

Is the Bottled in Bond the same as their Barrel Select? If not, how do they differ?
No it’s different. BiB is a 14 year old whiskey with a slightly higher rye content and is 100 proof. Barrel select is a 10-12 year small batch bottled at 80 proof.

Dickel is pretty polarizing... you either love it or hate it. I’m in the latter camp. I had high hopes for BiB, but it tastes like flintstones vitamins to me.

I’ve been giving it to guests who want to mix something with Coke. Otherwise it would sit on my shelf forever.

How about a fine brandy

Weller 12 is hard to find anymore, but it’s definitely my favorite bourbon.
As for scotch, I’ve tried several but never had one that didn’t taste like a campfire.

Try Glencoyne, Auchentoshan, Aberlour. Not expensive as Scotch goes and they are not steeped in smoke.

Husband picked up this gem tonight. Can't wait to open it. I'll definitely have a glass if we win out and win our bowl game. Cheers!

Lol, I wish I could get my hands on some pappy, just to know what all the fuss is about.
Gotta say, I was worried that the Johnny Blue was going to be over-hyped. I read many reviews. A lot said it was smooth but lacked flavor.
My review: exquisite. Extremely smooth right off the bat with a sweet dried date/raisin flavor. Alcohol burn was non-existent. Followed, a velvety mouth-feel with smoked oak and tobacco. This was the after-taste for me. Very complex, but one of the smoothest whiskeys I've tasted. Sipping this one neat is a must. I'm not usually one to drink whisky straight, but really enjoyed this scotch for what it is, and as a whole, found it delicious to drink on its own, as it's intended.
Honestly, this is the only whisky I've been able to sip/drink straight up. It's that good. I was hesitant at first, not only because of the price-tag, but I'm skeptical of hyped reviews. This one is so good, I've got to refrain and remind myself it's for special occasions only 😅

Trust me when I say I've had every Pappy, it's decent, but way overblown. The 23 yr is the worst of the lot, it's over aged. If you must try a pappy i'd recommend the 15 yr it's the best of them all at least the last few years it has been. If you like wheated bourbons go with weller. Weller 12 is the exact same mashbill as pappy just housed in a different part of the rick house. If weller is too hard to find, go with maker's mark cask strength that should be easy to find especially in KY/TN

I like Makers, but only mixed. I don't find it particularly sipable compared to other bourbons. I'll have to try the cask strength. Idk if you've tried this, but my husband also picked this up. It's quite good.

Can’t compare weller and pappy imo. This kind of talk is what made weller such a commodity. Pretty annoying to people who liked weller for what it was. Not some kind of wannabe pappy.
