White House Attacks Fox News Again

Why is it that the "commentators" on Fox are allowed to call Obama a racist, a communist, a socialist, and even to suggest that there is something to the claims that he isn't allowed ot be president, but Obama just has to sit there and take it because they are saying it on a network?

I mean, if they wrote that in some trashy weekly shopper, no one would blink an eye if the White House attacked it. But just because they are on tv, he has to be willing to just let them make their incendiary attacks on him?

Right so the appropriate response to a disagreement with Beck and Hannity is to bash the entire network and try to convince other news organizations to ignore them completely.

That's real leadership!

How about calling out Beck and Hannity individually? Nah, it's easier to trash the entire network.

I suppose you feel Bush's admin should have used the same tactics against MSNBC because of the comments of Olbermann?

What the transcript shows is that Jake Tapper of ABC is calling out this tactic. Press people from both sides of the spectrum are questioning this move. They see where it's going - run news stories that are unflattering to the administration and you get blacklisted. Above all, the press protects its own. They may not overtly support Fox but I bet they become more critical of Obama in the coming months.

Obama is going to be on campus on Friday...he'll be speaking about energy. We have a big energy initiative that's been going to for several years, so I suppose it's fitting. I wonder if he'll take any questions on this matter? :p

I think they are now calling it "Push Journalism." What you see with Fox is a commentator below whom are those banners and they are always loaded questions: "Are members of the Obama Administration socialists?" or "Is Obama's health care plan going to bankrupt the country?" It is obvious that they are actually declarations and purely rhetorical questions.

I do wish that they'd call out Beck and Hannity more, by name. But really its the entire network that is engaged in this charade of news coverage when in reality its conservative commentary throughout.

they are questions (perfectly valid ones) that the rest of the media won't ask because they're too busy stroking it to whatever BO says.

You know one helluva lot more about Fox than I do. That tells me that Murdoch is a freaking genius. He has captured fringe clowns from both sides.

Arguing that the rest of the media does a poor job of confronting Obama is no excuse for an entire network whose mission it is to derail him, at the expense of the country even. Which is the supreme irony even they don't see. They think they are the righteous ones, out to save us from ourselves. Typical conservative arrogance -- they insist they know better. As RL said, they want him to fail. Even if it means that the country is hurt in the process. For shame.

As I flip through the channels and see their banners, I just laugh at the morons reading those going "yup" the themselves without realizing what is really happening.

Well is it? The only way to pay for it is off the tax payers backs. In a bad economy were more and more people are losing their jobs. I guess you want really understand until it starts affecting lawyers when people don't have the money to hire your services! I guess you can always give your services for free!

Plus look at what the health care bill does for doctors, It lowers their pay for Medicare and then allows for NO COLA ever!

isn't this the exact argument that republicans rightly were flamed about when the bush administration was under fire by the media? i.e. questioning our president hurts the country?

Back to your feel for the masses. Awesome. Joe Sixer loves you.

The commentary about the arrogance of conservatives is probably your most hypocritical, which is one damn strong statement.

again you miss the meaning of RL's quote but it's really not surprising anymore. It has to be on purpose now

And where was this outrage by you when the media was doing the same to GWB? I guess that was justified.

The country is hurt by his success, not his failure. We have seen his tactics now for eight months. When his agenda succeeds, it results in a weaker America, higher unemployment, higher inflation, higher energy costs, stifled public discourse, indecisive military strategies, increased government control, decreased liberty...
