There is anecdotal evidence of guns saving people everyday in the US, all you need to do is look for it because it isn't mainstream news.

As to defensives uses of guns, the CDC report said, "Studies that directly assessed the effect of actual defensive uses of guns (i.e., incidents in which a gun was 'used' by the crime victim in the sense of attacking or threatening an offender) have found consistently lower injury rates among gun-using crime victims compared with victims who used other self-protective strategies. ... Almost all national survey estimates indicate that defensive gun uses by victims are at least as common as offensive uses by criminals, with estimates of annual uses ranging from about 500,000 to more than 3 million per year, in the context of about 300,000 violent crimes involving firearms in 2008."

What's funny is New Zealand has laws very similar to what the Libs/Democrats want here and they still didn't work. So what do they want more regulation. It's exactly the what it will work here until they get total confiscation. Anyone that believes otherwise is living under a rock.

Succinctly the type of thing your citing would start out with government pushing to the point guns come into play. If only the government has guns it pretty much ends there. With an armed population it won't end there. If the Feds up the ante (in any near future at least) a number of states are going to be in an uproar. Maybe this is enough to de-escalate, maybe not. Then, as you say, there's the incredibly myopic idea that huge chunks of current and former military wouldn't take an opposing side. (in fact one of the commonly held ideas would actually involve a military coup to reset things) There's also a LOT of soldiers/ordinance in the states that would push back the most in such a scenario.

Bottom line the idea the 2A is just a front for "Bubba vs F-16's" is so devoid of anything other than the most superficial and dismissive attempt at understanding it is (or should be) embarrassing for whomever posits the notion.

Why do you have to sound like Dr Phil and ask dumbass questions all the time? How many people who used a gun to take another life an not in a case of self defense didn’t commit homocide. How many of those cases involving intent to murder didn’t commit murder? How many gun laws prevented them from happening.

Repeat it with me Dr Phil. Criminals don’t obey the law, even gun laws.
