Who believes that.....

I would love to butt in on this awesome conversation.......I think if the boys would have to "shoot" with a women's ball, they would lose at least 8 out of 10 games against a good Summit team. But visa versa on that. Pat would find a way to D up the boys to stop them.

Give men a week with the small ball and shooting % would go skyward.

I read through this thread and got some great laughs all around. I guess I'm in the majority for this topic.

girls play a MUCH MORE fundamental game...mostly because unlike guys, they cannot get to the rim.
however, with the advantages guys have biologically over girls, the girls would lose more than likely.
I have been an advocate over the years for the women winning and I can see instances where it can happen.. I don't think for instance wool could beat my 2 year old but i digress.....
the girls game and the boys game are totally different and there are reasons to watch both...girls game is more pure the way it was meant to be but many do not like because they lack the capability to see the beauty in a fundamental game.
here come the cracks now on jump balls and such...
come on...the women's game has progressed since the 80's when that was the case..... but in women's game you do not see a 15 seed close to a 2 seed in a tourney unlike the men..

thats all

Given a poorly coached, average high school team with no college players, I'd take the Lady Vols if I could guarantee a hot shooting day. Given a better team with future college players, I'd take the high school team. It might be a one in ten shot that the women's team could win depending on how well the shots are going down and other random factors. Physically, they'd be dominated and I think one in ten is pushing it a little. This just isn't a likely result unless you select a team of patsies that are physically outmatched by the Lady Vols. That would be a very bad team though. There is a very good reason these sports are separated by gender.

UCONN's team this year could compete in the NCAA's for a couple of rounds!

Ridiculous. They wouldn't even win the play-in game.

I have never bought that line of reasoning. I have seen plenty of women's teams do nothing but jack up threes and play a disjointed style. Just because it is a lay up instead of a dunk doesn't make it pure.

On second thought, after watching the UT-LSU men's game, maybe the LVs could give the LSU men a good game.

That team is flat out awful.

The team she had a couple of years ago with Candice Parker could have beaten some college mens teams, would have abused high school teams. UCONN's team this year could compete in the NCAA's for a couple of rounds!

Sorry. There ain't no way. What others have said here is about the way it is. A good women's team would beat an ordinary boys HS team. They wouldn't beat a better one, one that had college prospects on it. And there is no freaking way that UConn's women could compete with an NCAA Tournament-caliber men's team. They couldn't compete with a Division III NCAA Tournament men's team.

The physical differences between good men's players and good women's players are just too much. Candace Parker might be the best women's player ever, and her husband is far from the best men's player ever, but she'd have no chance of beating him one-on-one.
