Who do we close with?

Griffin, Walker, Winkel, and Quay. I am a very happy man.

isn't walker and quay the same guy? or am i missing another walker?:eek:lol:

i think at this point, Langham, Miller and Stuart seem like long shots.

i'd think we have to go all in on Walker and Griffin. i think those two are as close to "must haves" as you can get.

so...
Walker
Griffin
Winkel
Young
Mincey
Grant
Smith
Flemister? of course if you can land any of the 3 above, you get them.

Bull****! PruVitt CHOSE to lose time because of his allegiance to Bama winning another NC.

There's always some type of excuse.

he didn't lose any time over the dead period, which is when he was not in town. he was doing the same thing everyone else was....phone/text/email. that's it.

the short time really was the ESD period, where there was what, a week, between the time he took the job, until they started signing?

what's happening now is what would have happened no matter what.

now, i don't know that i buy "year zero" given the relationships he already had with many of the kids he's currently trying to sign here.

but there's no "real time" lost because he finished his coaching duties at Bama.

With 8 spots remaining this is my best guess. I would be thrilled if we finished with

Young
JJ
Quay
Smith
Grant or Hall
Griffin or ITS
Flemister
Best OL/DL available

People keep referring Issac Taylor-Stuart as ITS, and I picture a whole army of Pennywise's

For those that cover recruiting a good bit, I am curious as to who we will close our class out with? Where do you expect us to finish in the recruiting rankings?

Please merge if necessary. Thanks!

I think we sign 23 (yes, I know the professionals say we only have room for 22). 14 signed early, leaving 9 spots. Here's who I think we'll sign. Five who were our first choice, four who were fall-back options to our first choice in parentheses. Just my $.02
4* JJ Peterson
4* Jordan Young
3* Eddie Smith
3* Ryan Winkel (Valentin)
5* Quay Walker
5* Olaijah Griffin
3* John Mincey (Langham)
3* Otito Ogbonnia (Miller)
3* Antoine Green (Copeland)

Btw, I'd be thrilled with this finish.:)

Whoever we close with, I have to say that this class is a surprising success. A guy like JJ Petersen would have likely never given us a shot under Butch, much less committed.

What Pruitt and staff have done in this limited time, especially with the early signing period, has been amazing.

JJ was going wherever Pruitt is. He committed without ever stepping foot on campus. That tells you all you need to know. He is really close on qualifying and I think he will. Use JJ as the centerpiece of this defense. He will have to learn to become more of a vocal leader, very quiet but could do a lot of recruiting and damage to opponents offenses if he comes out if his shell. Something to be said to lead by example but need vocal guys as well.

Of the 4, it would be a shock to get ITS, USC is Very confident on Griffin, UGA is confident on Walker and who knows about Miller. I do think 2 isnÂ’t beyond the realm of possibilities, could happen.

I'm assuming we have 8-9 spots left with that being said here is my list...

1 - JJ Petersen OLB
2 - Jordan Young WR
3 - Quay Walker OLB
4 - Olaijah Griffin CB
5 - Eddie Smith CB
6 - Coynis Miller DL
7 - Jashaun Corbin RB (Grant)
8 - Ryan Winkel / Wonnum OL

9 - Surprise, there is always a guy we don't see coming, under the radar or big time unexpected get...

Alan Carson

Dooley said Carson was an old school football player. He waited until Fall camp to start getting in shape.

When Carson always finished last running sprints with the DL. Coach Lance Thompson told him, It is not your fault Alan, it is my fault. I recruited your fat a**
