Who do we want?

We were rewarded with two easy games. We are now punished with what might be the toughest two games matchup wise for us. It will take the greatest weekend of basketball in Tennessee history to make it to the Final Four. Not wrapping up a 1 seed made the journey much tougher but we can still do this!
We would’ve been playing Tom Izzo today had we been the last 1 seed.

And those are easier matchups for us by a wide margin than Creighton and Purdue.
Debatable. Duke I can see being a slightly easier draw than Creighton, but the rest I think are right there with Purdue. Regardless, our path forward is in front of us. Survive and advance.

We are already past today and they are not. Unless we somehow got worse than preseason when we beat them on their home court. Izzo..Smdh…living off a title a quarter center ago

I just think Purdue is a massive matchup problem for us and we all know why. Duke is soft as Charmin. They were last year and they are this year. Creighton is anything but soft.

Creighton it is. UO gave the win away down the stretch. Coach made a massive mistake in an immediate foul situation left his 60% ft shooter in and let him take the inbounds. Unlike Aidoo their big missed the front of the 1&1, Creighton tied it and it goes to OT. UO blew the win.

Creighton is more like us without the perimeter D. They can beat you in several ways. If we shoot normal, match big for big, and bring this defense, I think we can choke their perimeter and win this.

Yeah I can see that point of view. But Duke in March past the first or second round, at least to me, takes on another level. Sure it’s not Coach K on the sideline, but it’s still Duke and they’ve got some players. Regardless, Creighton is our draw and won’t be an easy out.

Purdue is matchup problem for anyone outside of UConn. But we matched up well before and I think that gives us an edge.

Big boy basketball time for sure. No easy road or bracket falling our way going forward. Our best basketball is needed to advance from now on. Hopefully we can do it.

Not sure that’s true in straight comparison. The only thing that make it definitely easier by comparison would be “not having to play a 1 seed before the final four.”

Even if you want to play the “Duke is always overrated game”, it doest’t seem like the comparison would hold true for the opponents afterward.

Yes…Staying away from Purdue , Houston, or UConn as long as possible would have been ideal. Creighton analytically is the best 3 seed and one of 9 teams pre tournament that could seriously cut down the nets. Combined with fact they were a bucket away from Final Four last year….they are one hungry bunch…we are too...it is going to be a monster game!

I think Candace made a good point in the post-game that Tenn should really look on offense to focus on the two man pick and roll ball screens. Oregon had alot of success doing it against Creighton.

Texas did a good job taking that play away from us, but it's one of our bread and butter plays. I could also see us having alot of success as well.

Drive in the paint straight to the rim- all night long. We are way more athletic than them, and we have a much deeper bench. And we outta be able to push them around and be very physical like we were against Texas.
Of our shots are falling we will beat Creighton down.

Opening line is Vols -155

2.5 point favorites

I wonder if Texas took it away from us or we just went away from it and chose other options. Some of our 3 attempts were quick or even ill advised. I felt like we should have worked a little more movement and into the post during stretches tonight.

What is this? Sure Creighton can beat us but they aren't some elite team. 2 losses to Providence, loss to Butler and Villanova on their home floor, double digit beatdowns by Colorado State, St. Johns, and UNLV. We play our game and we win. Let's go. And Gonzaga is going to beat Purdue.

I like it! Plus, we seem to play worse when it’s a team we should beat and better when it’s a tough opponent.

From a few times I saw us try to run it, Rexas was never fooled. They were right there ready to switch off and defend it. I think RT knew exactly how Barnes likes to run this and completely took it away.

I have not watched enough of either, but felt like Cousinard and Dante would have made life difficult. Am I wrong in thinking we should be able to dominate Creighton in the post and that they will have a tough time matching up with Knecht?

They have a freakish goon at center.
