Who here is still backing our coaching staff?

THose "chumps" you speak of happened to be on the sidelines when we beat Texas A&M.

I am behind our coaching staff AND our team.

Anything less would make me a fairweather fan.

Who is here backing our coaching staff? The easter bunny, Santa, and the toothfairy.

I will back them as long as they are our coaches. We got outcoached and outmanned. Please stop ripping the coaches.

I disagree. UF was just the better team tonight. UT faced a damn good team, coaching staff, and stadium. Nothing to be ashamed of with the L. If Fulmer goes 8-5, then they should be called chumps, but not after a single digit loss on the road to the #7 team in the nation, in a rivalry game no less.

They are also pretty much the same guys who put the NC trophy in our case.

Outcoached, yup

This was a game that could have gone either way, and to blame fumbled punts and on coaching is stupid. You wouldn't be saying all of this if Heffney covers that punt and we keep momentum and win.

Good Lord it's just one game...I would question why UT abandoned the run though.

That's what confuses me. I guess it's what we get. We complain about the run and how much we do it, but when we really needed it, it just disappeared.

I do not think we were outcoached. IF the plays had been executed, we'd all be singing CPF's praises and talking about he needs a contract extension. I promise I'm not trying to be condescending, y'all, but after seeing the effects of Hurricane Katrina on thousands of people's lives, it's just kinda hard to take losing a football game as seriously as I used to. Losing just gives us more incentive to CRUSH them next year in a REAL stadium that holds more than a pitiful 90,000 people.

Well, its hard to take you seriously if you think 90,000 people watching a football game (florida state record) is pitiful :p

Also, those 90,000 people have generated the loudest outdoor, unplanned, event in the history of the world. I would take loudness over size any day of the week. :nener:

Outcoached? Nah, UF just has a good team. We made way too many mistakes to win that game and most were not coaching. Let's move on, we have long season ahead.

Special teams have eroded slowly over the last 2 years, and tonight it became glaringly evident that is an area that is simply not being addressed. I think at one time we didn't even have a special teams coach, just anassistant with another responsibility that just happened to also coach special teams. Not sure if that's still the case.

But either way, players made bad decisions which is a reflection of bad coaching. I usually defend the coaches and if there's anyone that I've been down on before it's been Chavis (for reasons that will take way too long to list right now) but tonight he was the only one that had his unit prepped to win. CPF needs to wake up and smell the coffee: O-line isn't getting it done. Sanders did not get it done tonight, and spec teams absolutely threw away any chance we had to take the lead in the 2nd half. CPF needs to address these issues NOW. And sternly.

I've defended Sanders in the past, but not tonight. His gameplan was non-existent. And since CPF has to approve it, he's just as much at fault. At no time could I figure out what the offense was trying to accomplish. First it was try to run over them. And as soon as that started working it was a run/pass/run/pass pattern that I guess was supposed to keep UF guessing but instead looked to me like it threw us out of any kind of rhythm. Then it was pass pass pass to try to get back into the ballgame quickly, but it was way too early at that point to be doing that. I thought we may have been holding back a lot of the playbook during the UAB game to keep UF from seeing what this season's personnel could do and how good they are. Apparently, that is the extent of the playbook.

CPF should severly dress down Sanders after this game. And, only because it has been a continuing problem for some time now, I think CPF should let theo-line coach and whoever is in charge of spec teams go.

Anybody that knows me knows I'm pretty level headed and don't call for coaches firings after every loss or close win, but spec teams and o-line are 2 areas that are not getting better, they're getting worse, and have been progressively getting worse for some time know.

I thought he was running backs coach. There needs to be a spec teams coach, and his only responsibility should be spec teams. There are many other teams in college football that have far less talent than we do but far superior spec teams.

Well yeah, he is the RB coach, but I thought I remembered someone saying that he took over special teams too.

I agree though, we need someone who knows something about special teams. How much do you think it would cost to hire Frank Beamer as our ST coach? I'm sure he would be interested....

Unplannned event? How did so many people get there without knowing about it?

Isn't Trooper Taylor in charge of special teams now?

I said in threads before the game that the defense HAS to set the tone and the offense will do it's job. Well, the defense did it's job, the offense faltered but the deciding factor was the special teams (which I don't remember very many people addressing pre game). I like Trooper but if he is responsible for the special teams, he needs a good talking to..
