Who here is still backing our coaching staff?

I said it here, ANYONE who backs our offensive coaching staff knows nothing about football. We CANNOT substitute, call in a play and get it off in 45 seconds or less. The process is complete chaos. Then our OC takes his frustrations out repeatedly,as seen last night, by yelling and coming unglued at his henchmen around him. Even after a time out ,when the entire team is on the sideline getting organized, getting the snap off without multiple confusion does not happen. Fulmer defending his OC only deepens the problem. Florida was "average" at best and we were worse. Think last night was bad? wait a week. This ship will never be rectified untill it completely capsises and our fans realize the truth, we are POORLY coached. Even Lou Holtz, who I cannot stand, said before the game UT was fundamentally unsound. You and the entire nation saw a pitiful display of coaching, execution, game planning aagainst the Florida Gators. Results Vols go 7-4 this year, Gators go 8-3. Change then MUST be made. :mf_surrender:

p.s. File away that prediction 2345 and call me back in December. And I am sure Charlie Weis was belly laughing at our offensive performance. Also Spurrier, Shula, Richt. We have scored THREE td's in eight quarters, simply pitiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't agree about fairweather fans, Lady. I've been howling for Sanders' head on a stick for a long time. When we do pull off a win, and some have been fairly impressive, I think it's a case of our athletes' beating the other team's coaches. I want our team to win, and if the same issues keep popping up (did anybody say unimaginative O?), then the buck stops with the coaches.

Does anybody know why the OC and DC are on the sidelines instead of upstairs, as they are for practically every other team in the universe? I think it hurts their performance.

These two things are certain in life....

1. Nobody puts Baby in a corner.

and

2. Nobody puts the genius of Sanders in a box.

Of course

When we win, it isnt the coaches
When we lose, it is

Great argument

Trooper Taylor is on the special teams coaching staff. I think it is a combined effort. I am not sure of the others involved.

found this on an article from the tennessean..

The Vols have several coaches involved with different facets of special teams, including Steve Caldwell, Pat Washington and Trooper Taylor.

Unplannned event? How did so many people get there without knowing about it?
I said in threads before the game that the defense HAS to set the tone and the offense will do it's job. Well, the defense did it's job, the offense faltered but the deciding factor was the special teams (which I don't remember very many people addressing pre game). I like Trooper but if he is responsible for the special teams, he needs a good talking to..

"NOT SO FAST MY FRIEND". Right after the "performance" against UAB I posted a strong criticism of the special teams but with the hope that during the 2 week respit, our coaches would work out the kinks. :cross:

Well, the kinks didn't get worked out and the performances did not improve. If anything our special team performance against the Gaiters was even worse than against UAB. :bad:

I give special praise to our defense, they carried the Big Orange all night and kept the game in reach into the 4th quarter.

Somewhere, somehow from someone, we need to find a Punt Returner and come up with some offense. 24 points in 8 quarters is hardly what Vol Fans expect.

Its hard to believe I'm actually defending our coaching staff, and ive never been a big fan of our offsensive scheme, formation, etc but:

1) the blocked fg
this was a result of the holder calling for the snap before the line was set, most people on high school level know enough not to call for a snap before the line is set and ready, I dont see this being a coaching mistake unless you want to blame them for putting this guy in as the holder.

2) Fake punt
Colquitt admitted he was never even suppose to consider doing that until they are past the 35. He thought he saw something he obviously didnt. It was just a dumb mistake by a true freshmen.

3) Dropped Punt
Turnovers happen. You cant really fault the coaching staff with someone mishandles a punt. Maybe you can argue someone else should have been back there, but turnovers are hard to eliminate.

4) Passing the ball 2nd half
Florida was playing a tight man to man defense. The normal way to attack that is th burn the guys deep, to get them to play off of them. For some reason, our wr's couldnt get separation, and our qb couldnt get them the ball. To me our qb and wr's are really underperforming for whatever reason.
