Who is Ainge talking about?

Not that my opinion matters but I think I would be okay with Shaw. It's hard to know how good he is though with only being a couple of years removed from Harbaugh and Luck. Of course, I don't know a lot about his career and don't keep up with the PAC-whatever number they are now.

Shaw would be a good hire. Doesn't matter now. No matter the college coach this fanbase is going to be pissed if his name isn't Jon Gruden.

Shaw would be an interesting hire and one that I could be enthusiastic about. Stanford is not as talented but they do "mirror" Alabama imo. Both run the same type offense (pro) and love running the ball out of the single back set and power I...both of which I like. I just don't see it being a realistic shot though. I could be wrong but I think Shaw is a Stanford/west coast man and has zero ties to anything SEC/Southern US...jmo, tifwiw, wtf

If we hire Gruden, this is going to be really embarrassing for Ainge. He's going to get blasted like Basilio has in the past. TB is mature enough to deal with it, though.

TB got blasted for continuing to insist Golden was homerun hire, so he spends first part of show interviewing a Philly guy to back him up on Golden, that was kind of silly. For the most part he does hanlde criticism well but I thought having a guy on to convince people Golden was a great hire, was weird.

Golden would be in my top 3. I fear he wouldnt unite the fan base though. Not sure that is a job requirement but it would be helpful

Ainge says that we are going after someone, and it's "in the negotiating phase" already. He says it isn't a coaching search right now, we are zeroed in on one guy already.
As we all know he is insisting that Gruden is off the table. He also seems to be talking about a guy who is a current head coach. He says that the guy will absolutely unite the fan base, which makes me think it's not Cutcliffe. He pointed out Al Golden's losing record this morning and didn't seem impressed with him, so I think that takes him off the list.
Is he suggesting we are close to a deal with Patterson, Petersen, Gundy, or Fisher?
Has anyone met him at a remote to get the scoop?
This whole thing is driving me crazy.
I would guess it's either Patterson or Fisher....maybe Strong, but more likely one of the first two.

Agree. At least before they played a game. I think if somebody like Patterson or Fisher came in and won 8 or 9 games in year one people would get behind them.

I'm not sure anyone could come in and win that many games the first year if Bray, Hunter, and Patterson leave...

Why exactly?...He's a terrible coach...Not understanding why some people have this thing for him...He has a boatload of talent here at Miami and has done absolutely nothing with it...NOTHING...He may indeed be worse than Dooley...Seriously

Our roster will deplete if Dooley goes, we will be in rebuild mode once again! We have a coach lets stick with him! Gruden is the only man that could do better, he is very detail oriented , but fisher struggles with acc, now any he is sec material, he has the most talent waste team in the nation, D D could win with his players in the acc!!!

Isn't it possible that it could be a hidden message? By Ainge saying its NOT Gruden and it'll end up being Gruden. Who else would we all go crazy over, that's the only name that would cause another earthquake in Knoxville.

Somebody find Mike Gundy, and ask which team he's pulling for this morning at 10:30p. That might help us weed out one candidate.

The reality is Jimbo has forgotten more about coaching and football than Dooley will ever know. I'm sure this was just a trolling, but man there are some things you don't even joke about...

If you are serious then you need medication.

I would disagree with the "boatload of talent" claim...I'm not overly impressed with their team, but don't disagree with your other comments. .

There was also an article posted on either ESPN.com or SI.com yesterday with the headline stating something along the lines that Golden is not doing a good job recruiting in Florida. All things considered, I think he's a far cry from a "home-run" hire and would hate to see UT pull the trigger on this guy.

Peterson will never leave Boise and doubt Gundy would leave his Alma Mater but could be Patterson. Still trust the guys that say Gruden is done.

Why are people mentioning Jimbo Fisher? I haven't been paying attention to the coaching rumors, so this one is new to me. But Jimbo Fisher, for real? Why would he even leave FSU, that makes no sense to me. And neither does Brian Kelly, or even Mike Gundy.

I could see Gruden, Patterson, Peterson, Strong, or Mullen though.
