Who is the greatest defensive shortstop to ever play the game?

Has his name ever been mentioned? Has his stats fluctuated dramatically one way or another over the years? Nope. Consistent Al.

He's a great hitter, which can only mean he's dirty. Didn't you get that memo?

You'd think La Russa would start cultivating more than just Pujols considering how impotent the Cardinals lineup was this year.

A real head-scratcher, for sure. It'd be even worse if it wasn't so blindingly obvious that La Russa cultivates and promotes the performance enhancing drug use culture in Major League Baseball, even in players hundreds of miles away on teams he doesn't even manage. Dumbfounding, really.

Never been one to ever back LaRussa. But he has done what every other minor league and major league manager has, he turned his head and let it happen.

Giambi in 1995, 24 years old, 6 HR, .256/.364/.398. Definitely on the La Russa juice.

It may have only been one year, but LaRussa left his indelible mark on the young Giambi

Can't you read? La Russa didn't just "let it happen," he encouraged guys (only a handful for whatever reason it seems) to use.

What most people fail to realize is that majority of the heavy users never step foot on a major league field.

LaRussa must have a helluva way to reach those guys in the minors.

Not only that, but with McGwire as the hitting coach and as God-awful as the Cards hit this year, you'd think he would've injected a few more players. I blame Selig for all of it.

Hey, if he can be the cause of Giambi blowing up and putting up monster numbers four or five years after he's out of Oakland, what's a few minor leaguers?

That's because without juice McGwire is crap. The guy is a disgrace. It's encouraging that such a noble man like LaRussa would want him as an influence in the clubhouse.

Pujols is on the juice too. You have to be willfully ignorant to assume otherwise. They can't test for HGH in the majors.

I bet they ship directly to LaRussa's house.

Oh and don't forget that Sosa all of a sudden forgot how to speak English. It was more rampid in that era than any of us will ever know. It sure created a buzz when they were trying to win back fans in the 90s. The sad thing is, it's still only about my 4th favorite sport.
