I'm a big fan of David Gray. I consider him kind of a modernized version of Van Morrison.(kiddiedoc @ Apr 30 said:What do you guys think of David Gray? His first album is excellent. The second was OK. But, the newest, I like. You have to be in the right mood and setting, nice to relax to.
As to Shinedown, one of the better new heavy bands. I'm not quite as into that scene as I once was. . . .not that "original," but they still rock.

"Diamonds of Sierra Leone" is one of the smartest songs of the last 10 years.(kiddiedoc @ Apr 30 said:I don't know if I'd go THAT far. I do, however, have "Confessions" in my R&B mix.
Kanye West is much more lyrically complex. The first time I heard his stuff, I took it at face value. If you look deeper, though, you'll find that this is one deep dude.
The Killers I think will still be around, they seem like they can pull it off. Nickleback, they can die for all I care. I hate cock rock. White Stripes are trying and succeeding at pushing themselves back into underground. I have a feeling they'll be around (out of the mainstream) for a long time to come. Fall Out Boy definitley will not continue being this big mainstream... Part of a fad, they will come back down to being moderately popular, but I think for a while. 5 more years.(hatvol96 @ Apr 30 said:Bands I'll be interested to see where they are in 5-10 years-The Fray, Killers, Nickelback, White Stripes, The Strokes, and Fall Out Boy.
Train... Gone in 5 years. Their music just comes off as shallow to me. I think 3 Doors Down is already in the past, but will be fondly remembered. Green Day has been around for over a decade, I don't see why they can't be around for another one. Modern classic.(hatvol96 @ Apr 30 said:I would also add Train and 3 Doors Down to my list above. Greenday, too.
Weezer's blue album is one of my favorite albums, ever.(Volunteersfan @ Apr 30 said:I like Weezer and Panic! At the Disco
Panic! does, but they are unfortunately being lumped in with this trend, along with bands like Fall Out Boy and The Academy Is... and I see Panic! as an unfortunate casualty of the trend.(hatvol96 @ Apr 30 said:Weezer has stood the test of time well. Panic! has potential.
Same... 311 is amazing. I have all of their cd's.(kiddiedoc @ Apr 30 said:Sorry! I thought by "Panic" you meant Widespread. No, I've not seen Panic! At the Disco. What I've heard (which is pretty limited), seems kind of like an evolution of the Blink 182 trend. I still find the old 311 much more enjoyable than most of the newer funk-punk.
Thanks Milo I was starting to think I was the only sane one around when it comes to nickelback cause they suck like I said before my fav is Jeff Buckley a few others not named yet I like screaming trees and the cure for a couple.(milohimself @ May 1 said:The Killers I think will still be around, they seem like they can pull it off. Yeah I remember that. Tough Crowd was a great show.(volinbham @ May 3 said:If any of you watched the comedian talk show hosted by Colin Quinn, one topic was does certain rock lead to violence...
One of the guests said it does because when he listens to Nickleback he wants to kill.....Nickelback
The Colbert Report is genius my friend, and not only that, I think we're looking at a classic in the making. That show is actually duping people into beleiving they're watching a legit conservative comedy show. That show is the biggest television farce I can think of.(volsfan711 @ May 3 said:i hate Nickelback and Creed more than anything on earth. Tough Crowd was such an awesome show. I've hardly watched comedy central since. Apparently it cost a ton to produce the show and the raitings were average at best so they just made another Daily Show
