Every successful coach embraces discipline, heart and hard work. Unsuccessful ones do also. How many times did we hear Warlick mention those desirable traits or lament the lack of them in a player or the team as a whole. Style is how a coach goes about getting players to put those traits into practice. Some coaches have IT some coaches don't. The new coach will have her or his own style. Hope they have IT. I wholeheartedly admire Coach Summitt but she is gone. If you wish the new coach to be Pat you will be disappointed.Hopefully someone who embraces Pat Summitt’s style and not Holly’s. Pat was all discipline, heart, and hard work. We have become prima Donna U in my opinion. Also someone who wins.
Plus I see Laimbeer the same way as Barnes. He's currently 61. I believe he could turn the program around instantly and bring respect back to the program. Not sure what his salary is in the WNBA right now and if he'd actually be willing to coach the college game. He's definitely one of the top coaches for women's basketball today.Actually, he does and they interviewed one of his p,Ayers and they said they loved him. He could bring the flop to rocky top.
What do you mean "keep it classy on the court"? We're not talking about the Bill Laimbeer who played for the Pistons in the 80s and 90s. Referring to the Bill Laimbeer who has 3 WNBA Championships under his belt as a head coach. He's also one of the most respected head coaches in the history of the WNBA.Lolz wow. No he’s got a nice up and coming team in Vegas. Besides we want to keep things classy on the court.
If she is so great then why did NCST almost fire her for having losing records in the ACC the entire time she was there?...She is having a nice run right now in the tournament but come on...She isn't ready for a job like UT.I like Kellie Jolly because I believe she is a great coach who cares about her players. The fact she was an outstanding Lady Vol is just a plus. I would not want Brenda Frese on the sideline representing out university.
My thoughts exactly. She didn't succeed in her stint at NC State. What makes people think she would succeed at a program with higher expectations than NC State. She's doing good where she's at now. Some coaches, in men's and women's basketball, are better suited to coach mid major programs. Nothing wrong with that.If she is so great then why did NCST almost fire her for having losing records in the ACC the entire time she was there?...She is having a nice run right now in the tournament but come on...She isn't ready for a job like UT.
Women’s basketball.
Seriously he was the top assistant for Brenda Frese at Maryland. That 2006 NC was made up of several recruiting wins against us with alleged shady overtones and a former high school player of the year they outright poached off our roster during her second season. Sa’de Wiley-Gatewood.
This has been discussed several times about her time there. She got a new AD who just happened to be Kay Yow's sister. Everyone wanted Glance to be hired, so she was fighting an uphill battle. AD came in and fired all (most?) the coaches in the dept.My thoughts exactly. She didn't succeed in her stint at NC State. What about Nikki McCray-Penson? She was a long time assistant under Staley and has already turned Old Dominion around in her second year as coach there.
Just over the last four years she's got a 65% winning percentage, same as Holly but in a worse conference. Not seeing it.This has been discussed several times about her time there. Harper would do well here. She can coach.
I've been pleasantly surprised at the good job Coach Fulmer has done as ADWow, I can't believe Bruce Pearl's name hasn't come up.
Seriously, I have all the confidence that AD Fulmer will make the right hire.
To get the LVBB back to the elite level will take more than just a coach (I think a lot of Holly's problem was her inability to recognize all the peripherals that make a great program, and how we'd been passed by other programs)
To get the program back, a lot of the sidelined LV booster/supports will need to re-engage and we'll be able to afford any coach that Fulmer selects.

Obviously you can't read. I didn't wish the new coach to "be Pat". Got an issue with my comment, fine. Posting condescending statements just makes you look like an elitist or ego filled blow hard.Every successful coach embraces discipline, heart and hard work. Unsuccessful ones do also.
