I'm for shutting down bowls if no 7-5 + teams are availableSo. If you miss the playoffs you can still qualify for a bowl...but there are so many bowls, that last year, 5-7 teams were having to be given a bowl bid. Now we have 8 more bowl eligible spots open due to expanding the playoffs.
Do we start letting in 4-8 teams?
This is so ridiculous. I tried to be nice with the first comment. I’m a sports fan. ESPN is standard packaging for any sports fan to, you know, watch sports. How dare I get more sports options instead of three reruns of first take during the afternoonIt's not free, most of it is on ESPN. Also, the question needs to be asked, why are 2 of the first round playoff games on TNT?
Not everyone has the luxury to waste on monthly cable bills and streaming services in this economy. This is so ridiculous. I tried to be nice with the first comment. I’m a sports fan. As long as they can sell ads and people watch, it's like the 8,673,393 reruns of Gilligan's Island, Friends, Two and a half men, etc that play continuously.Non playoff bowls have been meaningless for years.
I went to the absolutely meaningless and inconsequential Famous Toastery Bowl with my best friend since 4th grade and his 10 year old son. My Alma mater ODU blew it in the 4th quarter but it was still fun to get to catch up with him again.I went to the meaningless Orange Bowl vs Clemson with my then freshman daughter a couple years ago. What a blast and memory!
Universities lose their ass participatingAs long as they can sell ads and people watch, it's like the 8,673,393 reruns of Gilligan's Island, Friends, Two and a half men, etc that play continuously.
As long as folks are still watching and ads are still running, apparently the How The Heck Did We Get A Bowl Bid Bowl will still be on.
