Who will be the first 12 team CFP era team to decline a non playoff bowl bid?

The weedeater bowls need to die yesterday. If you want a place for so-so teams to play in December, then have a football NIT.

Least the bowl teams would be playing for something. They need to rethink all this.

I 2nd that motion. I'm looking for players to start sitting out. The bowl games really need to go away.
I mean the non playoff bowl games you have a good percentage of the roster opt out anyways. Quality of those games is terrible but they’ll keep doing it bc money

If opting out after accepting the bowl bid counts, then the answer is Marshall. Though it’s because pretty much because a third or so of the team (36 players) have entered the transfer portal after the coach left for Southern Miss the day after they won the SunBelt Championship.

(If so, I’d chalk that up more to the transfer portal gutting a team than the non-playoff bowls having less meaning.)

What about all these coaches that get new jobs before the bowl/playoff games? Unless they have been fired, should be in there contract that they can’t interview for new jobs until there team is completely done for the year or until Jan 1st or something like that.

You'd hopefully never agree to a job where you couldn't weigh your prospects and line up a new job before leaving the old one. Coaches won't either.

They may have terms that they must TELL a school they're talking to others, but not preventing it. That's crazy. No sane person agrees they'll quit a job before they look for another one.

How about Premier league like European soccer? Then relegation to the league next in line. at the end of the season. I'll bet that will be successful in killing off a lot of the programs that 'nobody' cares about either.
