Take it for what is is worth...but Florida is telling recruits they are going to try to bring Strong back as HC. This from TOS. It may be just something they are saying to calm recruits down.

I'm not sure who it will be, but you gotta believe that they will try hard for stoops. Anyone think they take a chance on muschamp, seeing how Brown signed that new deal?

Stoops would be interesting. Did he come from Florida or Florida State? Other than Texas and USC, I would think that Florida would be the Holy Grail of college coaching right now given their talent base. When you are successful in the SEC, you are at the top of the mountain so I would think that Stoops would come if they offered. Given the probable dollars offered, I'm sure Muschamp would come if offered. It's everything that Texas has to offer plus the SEC. I agree with an earlier poster...Florida will get who they want!

I think that they are going to go with somebody in Urban Meyer's inner circle who isn't going to fire the assistant coaches and bring in a new system. Urban Meyer is still going to be with the University in some capacity, and, according to some sources including the New York Times, he will have a role in determining who the next coach is.

Agree. Chances are they'll still make a strong (no pun intended) hire, but at last that's one less great coach to worry about ending up in Gainesville.

Then why let Strong get away in the first place? You think meyer and foley just figured out he was resigning yesterday? I think they may have played it in the way to allow Strong to leave before this came out so they did not get backed into making him the head coach.

I was thinking the same thing. Meyer and Foley had to have known this was coming, or at least know it was a likely posibility, before Strong left. I think Foley didn't want Strong as HC and felt if he was still on staff he would be in a situation where he was almost forced to offer him the job.

I don't know why any big name coach would want this job. There is nowhere to go but down and you'll always have Urban Meyer breathing down your neck. Not to mention what might happen if Urban wants to just come back to this job in a year or two.

Gruden
Stoops
Shanahan
Mullen
Spurrier
Strong

Gruden- hahahahahahahahahahaha

Stoops- maybe

Shanahan- again ahahahahahahahahahahaha

Mullen- nah I don't think so

Spurrier- would be interesting, would you take him back now?

Strong- pretty big buyout because he already signed his contract with Louisville, but I hope UF does make him HC, that would be awesome for us!

Since Meyer will be around in some unknown capacity as of now it'll have to be someone that will not mind him being around..I'd start with Whittingham from Utah...then probably Mullens...both for continuity reasons as well.

If i went another direction i'd look at Patterson and Peterson.

Gruden and Shanahan both want NFL jobs. Shanahan will probably be the next Redskins coach.

Gruden is a former UT graduate assistant and is married to a UT grad, and he didn't even consider our opening last year.

IMO the most likely coach to get the job on your list is Mullen.
