Who will do the PA at Neyland?

As much as I would love to hear that voice of John Ward I don't think it would be reasonable to think he would make a return. I don't know how I would feel about Bob Kesling. Mike Keith would be great, but why leave the NFL?

My choice would be Mike Keith. I don't think he would need to leave his NFL duties as VOL and Titan games are never on the same day. He could be in Knoxville on Saturdays for the PA duites, and be in Nashville (or wheverver the Titans are) on Sunday for the Radio broadcast.

Roy D. Mercer.

or

Strickly from a female's prospective....Sam Elliott.

BEEF. It's whats for dinner.

:yahoo:

Yep. If Sara M. had Dani K's mic skills, she could be the next Erin Andrews/Samantha Steele.

Oh yeah, no doubt. Someone said earlier in the thread that people who have played the sport or played high level sports in general are better on the mic and while there's certainly exceptions I agree with the general direction of that. Klupinger was a D1 basketball player at Stony Brook U. You can tell she's no stranger to being around athletes and coaches. She has the true sideline reporter thing going on whereas Mitchell comes off as more of the news desk anchor type.

For everyone suggesting John Ward or Mike Kieth, I pose a sincere question. Keep in mind, I have the utmost respect for both.

I wonder, after so many years doing play by play on the radio, how well would they transition to PA? The two jobs are completely different.

On radio, they call the action as it happens and paint a "picture" for the listener......In the stadium, they basically watch the live action with the fans and then state what happened, hopefully with some flair and/or personality.

Bobby Denton was amazing at PA. I feel for whomever it is.

As far as the PA announcer that did the O&W game last year, please no.

JMHO

Johnny Majors???!!!

It would be even more memorable at night games.

....Heck what am I saying, scratch that.......... 2nd half would be much more interesting.

George Takei.
"Oh my, it's a touchdown for the sleek and well toned team in orange!" He would gush.

If you didn't play the sport you shouldn't announce it or officiate it, jmo.

So the ability to observe a number on an orange sign and the location of a ball on a clearly-marked field and then formulate a well-articulated phrase to describe as much is dependent upon your past life as an athlete?

This new learning amazes me, Sir Dutchman. Explain again how sheep's bladders may be employed to prevent earthquakes.

This is why I suggested a racehorse announcer or rodeo announcer. They got the chops for being a PA.

Announcers can be funny too - YouTube

David Letterman, he is soon to be out of work, or maybe Johnny Depp...or perhaps someone with a Brtish accent. These make about as much sense of some of the other suggestions.
