Who is the guy that does the intros for the Pride of the Southland Band and the pregame and halftime festivities and such? He is not bad and has been doing that forever.

Greg Glover is currently announcing the band. He has only done it a few seasons. He is a former band member and currently does the news for WRCB in Chattanooga. He has a great voice and has lots of experience behind a microphone.

Welcome to the board. Post more often. :hi:

Thanks for the greeting. I've been lurking here on the boards far too long so I figured I'd get involved. :hi:

He wouldn't have to leave the NFL. Gene Deckerhoff does radio for both the Bucs and the Seminoles. He didn't even miss the Bucs game when they played in London after announcing the Seminole game on Sat.

Oh, I totally forgot about that. I would love it if Mike would be able to do that as well.

Is it likely that there will be just an interim PA for the spring game or this season?

Open up the check book for John Ward. That would be awesome to hear him do PA. I think Mickey Dearstone would be a "safe" replacement. It would be cool If they would play an audio of some of Denton during pregame and continue it as part of our tradition. Denton is such a part of the tradition anyway. It would be a way to entertain the crowd and honor him and his family for his contributions...

I'm sure they will get a great replacement just like they did when John Ward retired.

Other than that, Mike Keith could do a great job at either PA or play by play. Would like to see someone doing either that I could tolerate.

Bring Mike Keith back to east Tennessee and let him do play by play and stick Bob Kessling at PA! He has a great voice for it IMO

You want ideas? Ok, break the mold. Hire a woman. Problem is finding a woman with football savvy. Possible options: Woman coach or referee from the Women Football League. Test Sara Mitchell for the role.

Outside the lines ideas: Try a local high school football coach. Try a horse race announcer who is also an avid football fan. Try a retired or out of work assistant coach or referee (college or pro).

Sara Mitchell is the exact opposite of what you want in a PA announcer.

Gorgeous woman, terrible broadcasting voice.

Yeah, I can't help but agree here. She has the former sorority girl, beauty queen thing down pat. Needs a little work on the broadcast stuff. Dani Klupinger is actually more natural at that, IMO.

Have a surprise guest PA announcer every game. Former Vols, celebs, notables with TN ties, etc. Its not play by play, so they don't have to be an expert. Might be fun.

I like Roger. I don't mind the stutter. He's sincere and enthusiastic. His calls are brief and to the point.

I'd rather listen to Roger read War and Peace to me than listen to 5 minutes of Mickey Douchestone and Heatherholic Herringhaveanotherone.

That makes one of us.

OK. That why I said test as opposed to pick her. I do hope we serious look for a suitable female announcer. It would be different, maybe, maybe trendsetting.

Maybe look into WWE or RAW for a possible announcer. Or a rodeo announcer. I'd love to see us do something no one else is doing and do it well.
