any time soon. there may be other better coaches than Jones but it would take for ever. most people would say he has never coached and would never take the job. your day dreaming. well lets deal with never take the job. storys leaked to New York reports by his brother say he would. he turned down 20,000,000 from the Jets to play one more year in that orange jersey, he has turn down offers to run 3 different NFL teams, Fulmer is as close as his dad and has got crapped on he may do it just to deliver justice. it would unite the Tennessee fans like bring by the general back from the grave. in there harts this is what all Tennessee fans want living or dead.could he get the job done...he has the best mind in all of football, all of our position coaches would have super bowl rings. blue chip players would be pouring in... 5 star quarter backs, reveivers, tight ends, running backs all over the field. he has a history of getting to job done. he could hire Fulmer as the line coach and let him handle the messy stuff like dealing with 18 year old kids, taking the Job would give him some thing money can not buy ..that is fame... Tennessee would be the mecia of collage football ..the flash bulbs would be lighting up the side lines that for sure...lets keep dreaming vol fans..

Holly has a contract. She isn't going anywhere. When the contract expires I would hire Margo. Her post game analyses are far more insightful than anything that comes out of Holly's mouth.

Question to me is. With his reputation, warranted or not, who wants to work for him? Yes there are two sides to every story but coaches talk. It could hinder the quality of candidates available.

You might want Geno but you can't speak for the entire fan base. Speak for yourself when you post, OK? BTW, Holly will be here next year.

If you wouldn't take Geno as the coach right now you are a damn fool. You don't have to like someone to recognize greatness. It's like arguing the Presidents on Mt. Rushmore, only one of them is still around to do their job.

I hate Saban, Belichick, Geno, and several other great coaches. I'd still trade the current coach in all of those sports for them without a question.

everyone is a good coach sitting on the couch.

If that's what it takes, we have a barely-used one that we'd be glad to donate to install courtside at the Summitt.

It would be a major sacrifice, but it would be worth it to restore the honor of the Lady Vols program. :clapping:

Bama Dave had the power. Joan is an underling and BD plays hardball. No gain in taking him on, only pain. The little I've been around, imo, they all walk in fear of him, all of them.

Joan gave a lot to UT. She's been between a rock and a hard place and is too old to lead a rebellion, even if she wanted to. Let her rest on her laurels, she has enough of them:).

Who will John Currie hire to coach our once proud program?

3 pages and less than 5 people answered the original post, so I'll give it a shot.

I find women's basketball almost unwatchable so outside of the torture I put myself through to watch our Lady Vols I only see a few marquee national matchups each year and feel I'm unqualified to offer a coaching suggestion. But why let that stop me?

How about the Washington head coach, Mike Neighbors? He's 47 years old.He was an assistant to Kevin McGuff at Xavier for 4 years. They were 108-22 and went to 3 NCAAs in 4 years. Then McGuff got the Washington job and Neighbors went with him. They improved Washington in 2 years then McGuff left for Ohio St and Neighbors got the head job at Washington. In his 4 years they have improved every year. WNIT semis the first year. NCAA 1st round the next year. NCAA final 4 last year, beating Maryland, Kentucky and Stanford. And of course this year they are all kinds of fun to watch with Plum and Osahor. (When those 2 are gone who knows if they will remain fun to watch). And even farther back as a high school coach he took his team from 1-24 the first year to the state finals in year 4.He makes 420,000 a year. He does have a contract for 5 or 6 more years so that could be a problem. No idea what the buyout would be.

Please feel free to shoot down this suggestion and offer your own :)

She will be coming back next year, and she deserves that. It's not like they have not shown glimpses on what they CAN do, it's just been extremely inconsistent this year. You can tell there is stretches in a game where depth isn't there. How do you fix that? 1st step would be recruiting and you can't do better than what is coming to Ktown, #1 in America, even better than UConn.

Now, why she deserves it, Her name (and retired jersey) give her a little longer rope, and it should. The TRUTH is she isn't far off, throw this year away. No final 4 since 2008 and you can tell the program had started to slip a little in that time. But, you can't get closer to a Final 4 than Elite 8, to which she's done 4x (including 2012 bc she was the one coaching). With depth coming, only a matter of time.

Last, Pat handpicked her for a reason, Pat knew more than anyone what it took to be great (coaching, recruiting, etc). You aren't going to hire someone with Hollys credentials if you do fire her (3 SEC, 4 Elite 8). Summitt's protégés have had mixed results, none match Holly's.

Only slam dunk would be Geno. Do you want Geno?
Otherwise, who would you hire?

No slam dunk, but Wes Moore or Vic Schaeffer would restore the LV legacy with the #1 recruiting class coming next year. I don't think Geno would come to TN because he would help to re-establish Pat's legacy, not his.

The question wasn't answered because there isn't and won't be an immediate opening for that position.:hi:

Holly will get more time.

Hate to say it, but Holly will get at least one more shot because of the number one recruiting class. I think that a lot will depend upon how she does with that class and players that remain. If she can't beat teams like Virginia Tech, Penn State, Georgia, Alabama, etc., why would anyone believe she deserves to stay? She and her staff have to lead D1 WBB in the underdevelopment of 5 star players.

Holly ant going anywhere for at least a year or two. If Mercedes Russell comes back and I believe she will. Not sure about Diamond DeShields but hope so. Mercedes Russell will be much stronger next year and have a lot more help so it will be harder to double her. If both come back will have our big three. Plus Te'a Cooper, Evina Westbrook, Anastasia Hayes, and Rennia Davis will bring a lot of speed to the team witch Tennessee has not had in many years.
