Who will John Currie hire?

The question wasn't answered because there isn't and won't be an immediate opening for that position.:hi:

I didn't say the question wasn't answered. I said it was answered by less than 5 posters (I think it was actually 7). If you believe (like I do and like you do) that Holly will be back then that is a legitimate answer. Several people said that and that's a fair answer. I think 2 people suggested a name and that's a fair answer. The people who didn't answer talked about football, men's basketball, volleyball, Butch Jones, Philip Fulmer, Peyton Manning, what other duties an AD has besides hiring coaches and 1 guy said he had a coach in mind but didn't want to tell us who it is. Those are the people I'm talking about. The OP wanted to know who Currie would hire - and most people ignored it. I'm with you, I think she will be back next year. But I think the OP was after some names, so for fun I gave one:hi:

Holly ant going anywhere for at least a year or two. If Mercedes Russell comes back and I believe she will. Not sure about Diamond DeShields but hope so. Mercedes Russell will be much stronger next year and have a lot more help so it will be harder to double her. If both come back will have our big three. Plus Te'a Cooper, Evina Westbrook, Anastasia Hayeses, and Rennia Davis will bring a lot of speed to the team witch Tennessee has not had in many years.

I think that it all depends upon what she does with next year's group as to how long Holly stays. She and her staff will have to be better developers of the talent she has. Russell is not nearly one of the best women post in the country. Her offense is good but on defense she lacks aggression and consistent toughness. If she had Alana Coates' desire and toughness, Tennessee is in the final four discussion. Her glaring issue is her lack of strength and she runs like a turtle.

Holly has to understand that five stars have to be coached and developed. They still need to be motivated. She can't play players just because they are upperclassmen you put your best talent on the floor that gives you the best chance to win. For all that is right, a coach cannot do pressers by using the words, "I don't know", and repeat these words several times, you do not project confidence that you have a clue what you are doing.

She will be coming back next year, and she deserves that. It's not like they have not shown glimpses on what they CAN do, it's just been extremely inconsistent this year. You can tell there is stretches in a game where depth isn't there. How do you fix that? 1st step would be recruiting and you can't do better than what is coming to Ktown, #1 in America, even better than UConn.

Now, why she deserves it, Her name (and retired jersey) give her a little longer rope, and it should. The TRUTH is she isn't far off, throw this year away. No final 4 since 2008 and you can tell the program had started to slip a little in that time. But, you can't get closer to a Final 4 than Elite 8, to which she's done 4x (including 2012 bc she was the one coaching). With depth coming, only a matter of time.

Last, Pat handpicked her for a reason, Pat knew more than anyone what it took to be great (coaching, recruiting, etc). You aren't going to hire someone with Hollys credentials if you do fire her (3 SEC, 4 Elite 8). Summitt's protégés have had mixed results, none match Holly's.

Only slam dunk would be Geno. Do you want Geno?
Otherwise, who would you hire?

Warlick was a terrible choice to begin with--she not only had no head coaching experience, but most of her assistant experierence as as the no. 2 assistant, not no. 1. Summitt picked her because Warlick was her best friend--not a good idea. The team was bad in the regular season last year and this year. Three elite eights? We lost all three, played badly in all three. And need I remind you that this is a program that used to go to the Final Four every other year and has 8 national titles--was the premier program in the land for, what, 15 years? The elite eight has never been our standard. The team does not respond to Warlick most of the time. She is not a good coach.
