Amazing stat that I found.

USC's starters and their rivals rankings in high school:

QB-Booty #1, Sanchez #1, Mustain#2

RB-Gable #3, McKNight #1 FB-Havili #3,

WR-Turner #1, Hazelton #2, Davis #3

OL- Byers #1, Radovich #2, Baker #4, Rachal #12, Spanos #51

D-Line- LJ #6, Ellis #5, Moore #2, Griffen #1

LB-Maualuga #1,Rivers #1,Gallipo #1, Cushing #5

DB's-Mays #1, Wright #2, K.Thomas #7, Ellison #32

* Overall ranking at their position *

Checking to see if this is 100% correct.

That is sickening. Most of our players didn't even have a Rivals/Scout ranking. But then again, with our new Coach it doesn't matter what they were ranked in H.S.

USC will not go winless through the 9 game Pac-10 schedule. Nearly every other team in the Pac-10 is good, but none except USC are on that Michigan, Texas, LSU, Ohio State, Florida, etc. level. You string nine such games together, though, and USC will not make it unscathed through the conference. Possible for another split title with a Rose Bowl appearance.

That said, I obviously don't see USC as invincible as everyone else (don't forget road dates with Nebraska and Notre Dame) making the field wide-open this year. So wide open, in fact, I think we may see a suprise national title team. After Boise State's run last year, there is going to be a little more fluidity atop the polls this year, allowing that undefeated/one-loss team normally found outside of the national title equation, a shot.

My common sense pick to win the whole thing is West Virginia.

The chances of USC going undefeated within the PAC-10 are FAR better than the chances of them losing any games within the PAC-10. Milo, you always believe that the PAC-10 conference is far tougher than it is. In reality, USC is unbelievably good, Cal is an average (bottom of the top 25) team, and the rest of the conference is atrocious.

How dare you refer to the powerhouses that are Oregon, Oregon St., UCLA, Arizona, Arizona St., Stanford, Washington, and Washington St. as atrocious. They are pathetic at worst.:p

USC does have some tough games but nothing quite as bad as what UF had last year and USC has 2xs the talent.

It wouldn't surprise me to see another Texas vs. USC match-up for the NC, but with a different outcome. USC has too much talent, and a major lack of competition in the PAC-10, to be picking against them.

I have a feeling USC is gonna be a top team without dropping for many many years to come.

They're in Southern California. (LA, Media)

Besides USC, there is really no National Powerhouses on the west coast, meaning they can cherry pick 5 star recruits anywhere they want.

Right now, as long as they have Pete Carroll, they're gonna keep winning. Although without him, I don't see it changing much.

The only thing that will stop USC...

SI.com - Writers - Michael Silver: NCAA must get tough and make Reggie Bush*talk - Thursday May 10, 2007 5:41PM

Yeah, PC leaving or probation is the only thing that would stop USC right now. Of course, that is usually what ends dynasties.

The NCAA has no way of making Reggie Bush or the other two guys talking. They can't issue subpoenas to Bush or his family, and career criminals/"sports agents" Bush was previously associated with have since been payed off.

I'm fully aware that it is a 99.9% chance that Bush and his family recieved illegal benefits; I am partially doubting that USC actually knew anything, because the guys the benefits came from have absolutely no ties to USC. What I am fully doubting is the NCAA's ability to procure any hard evidence. These guys weren't idiot program boosters from Alabama; they are mobsters. If the feds have a hard time pegging guys like that, what chance does the NCAA have?

As for USC, you guys can cite all the talent they have, or how weak you think the Pac-10 might be. I just don't see USC making it to the national title game this season.

I understand that they may have some tough games, but so does every other team in the country. Not many teams go undefeated so they could still make it with 1 loss.

Just going against the gran. The grain doesn't get it right every year... Although the last few national championship games have been fairly predictable. Like I said, though, in the wake of Boise State's Fiesta Bowl win over Oklahoma, some voters may very well be more lenient on who they allow in BCS games and the national championship. Not all voters, mind you, just enough to make that difference.

Considering USC is gonna be #1 Pre Season, with as well a Heisman front runner (Not saying he is #1 yet).

USC is hands down the favorite and will have the voters on their side. Like I said before, I think they will spank Nebraska and Notre Dame but struggle against teams like Washington, Arizona, Cal etc..

Although I think they make it unbeaten.

I would say that there is no way UF puts up 39 on USC's defense and no way UF holds USC's offense to 17 but I didn't think UF could beat OSU either. Of course, USC actually has speed.

OSU has a lot of speed, especially on offense. Florida was faster, and they dominated at the line, but OSU did have speed.

You can't tell me Ginn, Robiske, Gonzalez, Hartline, Pittman, and Smith aren't fast. Its simply not true, and you only need a glance at their 40 times to prove it.

Yes, they're fast.

But to call a team "fast" you need to look at their D-Line, O-Line, Linebackers etc...

Every team has some playmakers with speed.

The reason Ohio State had such a hard time against Florida was because their D-Line was so quick and so was the rest of the team.

OSU has good linebackers, too. They are quick, although, obviously, they weren't used to speed like UF.
