Who would be on Your list of top 5 worst SEC Football Coaches you've seen?

The only possible pass Dooley could get is that everyone acknowledges that he walked into a grease fire. Now, that's not to say that he didn't spray lighter fluid on it.

He did, and that said, everyone knows I hated Dooley but to see how Jones has handled this program( I know he has not coached a game) furthers my belief that Derek Dooley is one of the biggest klutz's to coach in this league. He single handedly managed to even get our own fans thinking this isn't a special place, in terms of college football.

Dooley made Ray Goff at Georgia(UGA's version of Derek Dooley) look like Knute Rockne

I don't think that ever happened to those of us who know the game. That's why he was so infuriating. We know that you can sit on your ass and get top 25 classes here. We knew that one or two bounces the other way and we were sitting on 8 win years. We got so pissed at him BECAUSE this is a special place.

Tons forgot it. The "at least he is recruiting well" shat drove me nuts on here. Dude was a bona fide disaster.

My Parents were huge fans of Derek Dooley. They said it was wrong that Tennessee fired such a nice guy. :jpshakehead: I told My parents that I would take a complete a&&hole as Tennessee Coach who had a plan and could turn the program around. Unfortunately My Parents still don't like CBJ.

When the Ws start mounting, they will like him.

Then jones walked into a dumpster fire and has managed to almost put it out in six months. Dooley doesnt get a pass he is a fu(king moron that is the worst coach to ever coach in orange. And is pretty high on the list of worst in the SEC!

He is a terrible coach and saying otherwise is simply foolish. He got stuck with a tremendous program in a rut.

You're right; my bad. I need to start remembering that anyone who can't win a national title in three years with the glorious, ultra-talented University of Tennessee football program is a terrible coach.

Oh, wait.

It is interesting that you pointed that out. In fact, from 1954-1957, Auburn outscored Alabama 128-7 in reeling off a four-game wininng streak. See Alabama Historical Scores. As difficult as the last five years have been for Tennessee, I am specifically citing this data to say that things can get worse, a lot worse, even for proud and storied programs like Alabama.
Not many scenarios "can't get worse". Takes most folks awhile (if ever) to grasp this concept. It can always get worse and we should be thankful when it is "good".

Oh, wait.

Fine argument. Except for the fact it has nothing to do with winning a NC. Hell, he would have had us losing to a suck opponent like UL.

Arguing that DD was not a terrible coach immediately reveals you know nothing about football.

Your program just won a Sugar Bowl and our program just came off a losing season.....now take a minute and go look at recruiting rankings before you make some idiotic argument about the greatness of the UL football program.

Derek Dooley isn't some world-beater like Saban or Meyer, but he's not a terrible coach. Dooley inherited an awful situation and things just didn't work out for him... he wasn't the problem.

But, whatever. Pretend that all of Tennessee's past woes will be erased now that Tennessee has an incredibly early (and I can't stress that enough) top-three recruiting class and a new head coach. I'll wait to see your reaction after Jones takes that three-year losing season streak and turns it into a five-year drought. Boy, a Sugar Bowl win sure sounds good now, doesn't it?

Lol. Are you 12?

He is terrible and there is not one thing you can point to that says otherwise.

Jones will be enjoying his success at a college football penthouse in a few years while Strong is muddling around at a crap football program in a crap conference. What was the attendance at that Sugar Bowl anyway? It looked half empty. Guess that is because no one cared about seeing it since Lousiville was in it.

Allow me to recap the last five years of your fandom.

November 2008: It's about damn TIME we got rid of that no-good, washed up old hack FULMER. He was a CANCER on this program, had some of our own fans believing that Tennessee isn't a special place!

December 2008: HELL YEA! We've got a brash new son-of-a-gun leading the great TENNESSEE VOLUNTEERS! This time next year we'll be competing for the SEC East… and two years down the road it's time to fight on for the NATIONAL TITLE! Who cares that Kiffin pisses people off and hasn't coached a game yet… he's MY KIND OF MAN.

January 2010: THAT SON-OF-A-*****! What kind of SCOUNDREL leaves such a FANTASTIC program after ONE measly season? This is TENNESSEE! Oh no… maybe we're not good anymore. Maybe our ceiling is seven wins and a bowl loss. Where's the closest bri…

January 2010: HELL YEA! We've got a good-ole-boy leading the great TENNESSEE VOLUNTEERS! And he's the son of Georgia's best head coach EVER! That Kiffin guy wasn't good enough to be out water boy, let alone head coach! He had some of our OWN FANS believing that Tennessee isn't a special place! Who cares that he hasn't coached a game yet; we'll be back on top in no time at all with Dooley at the helm, I tell you what!

November 2012: It's about damn TIME we got rid of that no-good, NEVER WAS scheisty lawyer DOOLEY. I can't believe he had me wearing ORANGE PANTS like a damn New York homo! He was a CANCER on this program, had some of our own fans believing that TENNESSEE isn't a special place! Three straight losing seasons is ENTIRELY HIS FAULT; anyone else would have had us winning 30 games in that time span!

December 2012: BUTCH, PLEASE! Y'all see that? We just got our last choice for head coach! Anyone who DIDN'T choose to coach here is just afraid of winning with our awesome program and tradition! Sure, Butch Jones hasn't coached a game yet, but he's already got us back on top. FOOTBALL IS CYCLICAL, YOU KNOW!!!

--

So... do you notice a trend? I mean, given your educational background... probably not. But, in any event, that's fine! You're absolutely right. Tennessee probably is about to shock the world and rejoin the upper-echelon of college football.

And, anyway, if they don't? That's fine. Tennessee plays in a really good conference. That's better than being successful ten times out of ten!

Ok so lets say he got a bad program. Then why in his first year was he 3-5 in SEC play, the next year with a more experienced team and having been "coached up" by him and his staff went 1-7 in SEC play, and the next year with a very talented and experienced offence and players that he has now coached for two and a half years go 0-7 in SEC play. Giving him a grand total of 4-19 in the SEC!

Oh yeah he's Proly a good coach just a bad program! Give me a damn break! He is the worst coach tennesssee has ever had and one of the worst in the SEC! And that's the last time ill say it!
