When we only have 2 committed & one a question mark at this point in time it's time for some concern. Notice I did say concern & not panic. We could go on a commitment spree in the coming next 2-3 months but if we don't then we're in pretty big trouble recruiting wise for the 2018 class.

That's all I'm trying to say. We can't allow all those 4* & 5* recruits commit to all these other schools this early on without getting some ourselves. If so, we will be left with a bunch of 3* or below recruits again.

That's my honest opinion on our recruiting situation right now. I know we can't make any recruit commit but we've had so many talk so highly of us but nobody pulling the trigger. Thanks.

You are correct, that our class is lagging behind many others this year. But, this is not the time for panic or concern.

This seems to happen every year. By early April, if we do not have a growing list of commitments, then people start pushing the concern or panic buttons (you make the choice). Then come September or October, when our class is 5 short of being full, like 2015 and 2016 and 2017, people start panicing because there are too many great players still available and we do not have enough room for them. Or the tried and true complaint that we took too many too early.

Much of the discussion after 2/1/17 was that we took too many 3*'s too early and had to settle for a top 15 class. Well, it seems that some of those who agreed with this premise are already set to push the buttons on the 2018 class because we still sit at 2 commitments.

Funny. I remember much of the discussion being how we got commits from elite prospects early and then they bailed.

It's simple. The honeymoon period is over. We have to actually live up to expectations on the field now to get recruits that are better than 3 stars. So we have to wait for now.

I'll go one further and say we probably have to exceed expectations. Realistically this is a 7-8 win season due to attrition and the schedule. I'm giving the new staff the benefit of the doubt and not accounting for a choke job somewhere along the way. 7 or 8 wins in year 5 will not turn 5* heads. I'm not sure 9 wins does us much good on recruiting even though it would be a slight overachievement. We probably need 10 wins to really make a statement.

I think all the instate recruits visiting at the O&W game are going to go to the middle of the field at some point and have a group picture taken and all commit at the same time... They'll put it on twitter with the tagline of Domin8 and represent your state. That's my first bold prediction of the season lol

Now, that's exacytly what I needed to see posted. I was starting to get a little nervous over the recruiting situation but this certainly sounds really good. Thanks.

Johnson has already came out & said he probably wouldn't make no commitment before his senior season in high school so don't expect one from him. Maybe during the season or just after or maybe waiting until NSD.

I just want some commits. As a matter of fact, I'm going to jump out on a limb & say if we don't get at least 5 commits for the O&W game or around that time frame then it's just going to be more disappointment for me.

Hopefully most of those commitments can be 4* & 5* commits. I'd take a 3* or maybe two just to get something going too. 5 commits would give us 7 total & help ramp up recruiting tremendously I believe.

I believe we would be in double digits not too long after that. Maybe a couple weeks-1 month later. We just need to get some recruits to pull the trigger to get it ramped up & flowing. Thanks.

Trey Smith say's that not totally the truth, but never the less the Vols are going to take care of business this year. GBO!!!!
