The BBQ I was at had ball park deli style.

I don't really ever eat hot dogs but these were good.

A friend of mine is in charge of operations at a meat processing plant. One tour of his facility was all it took to cure my love of hotdogs.

I have not tried these. I'll have to give them a fair chance and buy some.

Put me down as another Nathan's fan. Superior to Hebrew National IMO

:good!:

Now if you're looking for a "healthier" hot dog choice with the best flavor I maintain that Hebrew National has it with their 97% Fat Free Beef Franks.

Yeah. Seeing the dirty work typically isn't going to be appealing. Best to not dig too deep into the process honestly. At least that's my take on it.

We bought Nathan's and tried grilling them at home. Too fatty/rich. Are you supposed to simmer them first like a brat? Didn't care for them.

OK, the taste test is over including leftovers for today. Agree on Nathan's as the top overall dog. You can use anything with it and have a great dog. Really liked the Park's Finest Smoked Hickory (all beef) as well. It was a great chili dog with sauerkraut. Used Skyline for the chili. OM Select Angus are good, but not in the league with Nathan's , HN or Park's Finest. The Tequila Lime Chicken Sausage was interesting and had a little heat. But not something I would go out of my way to buy again.

For me:
#1 - Nathan's; #2 Park's Finest; #3 Hebrew National; #4 and beyond - why bother.

Yeah, it is best not to know how the sausage is made.

We wont eat anything but Nathan's now

Used to be a Ball Park Beef fan

Never , ever liked the red hot dogs

What is with those red hot dogs, is it dye? I think I always thought they were spicy or something so I never bought them.

What about non-beef hotdogs?

Obscure meat hot dogs. :)

If they don't say "All Beef" they're typically a mix of beef and pork. Dearborn makes an all pork hot dog. Bar S Classic Franks are made of chicken and pork, also seen Bar S chicken, pork, and beef.

Flavor wise all around though it's Nathan's hands down.

For the hot dog aficionados:

When I was in college in Utah, one of my peers started a hot dog shack just off campus. I never knew a hot dog could taste so good. In less than a decade JDawgs has expanded to 4 restaurants. If he's ambitious, they'll be all over the country in a decade. Really high quality ingredients, but the real secret is in the sauce (barbecue based). It's so good. You should be able to buy the sauce online soon. I'll bump the thread when it happens. Every time I go to Utah I buy a bottle.
